@deerylou: Definitely do eat before you go because they dont let you eat. I also had cervidil and then pitocin induction. I had other complications though so my induction failed but most people I know had a fairly straight forward experience. Good luck!

No advice, as I did not have an induction, but just wanted to wish you good luck and a safe delivery! I hope you have gotten to enjoy your last days with your dh at least as much as possible while uncomfortably pregnant. You'll be in my thoughts! Hope your baby is in your arms soon!

I say you eat a huge meal and a memorable one!! This is the last meal before baby is here, and the last meal you will probably enjoy :) for a while. I wish I did considering the 20+ hrs I was forbidden food. I was only allowed ice chips, but that's NOT food. Also, you can't have food if you plan on having an epidural. So, make sure to get something in that will sustain you for as long as possible, because you are going to need all the energy you can get!

It's a waiting game in the beginning, but try to relax as much as possible. Try not to do anything that will use up too much of your energy, save it for later!!! Just sleep, like I did.

YAY! I can't wait for the little fawn to join us in the next day or so! Best of luck to you guys for a quick and smooth birth!

My only advice is to agree with @Espion: pack him some food! My husband was starving after the birth, he didn't get any breaks during labor either. While I won't say he worked quite as hard as I did, he did much more than we both had expected!

@deerylou: Sounds like the induction plan I had. Eat a big meal, bring stuff to do. From when they got me started on cervadil to when I had a baby was 38 hours. Oh, and if you can't sleep, get morphine. It's two shots in the thigh, but helped me get some much needed rest.

EAT! My induction was the same and it went great EXCEPT I thought I was going to get to sleep after starting my cervadil but spent the whole night having major contractions !!! My induction was very very successful. Remember, in 24 hrs it should all be over - you can do anything for a day ! Good luck !

@deerylou: sounds like you have a great plan!!!! I had to be induced with cervadil when I had my miscarriage at 20 weeks. It was okay. If I have to be induce with this LO, I know that I won't be worried. GOOD LUCK!!!! I know you will do great!

Thanks, ladies!

DH and I spent the day making the apartment sparkle, and running errands. We took a trip to the craft store, and decided to do a last minute DIY for the nursery.

Tomorrow, we're going to have a big brunch, and catch an early movie together. I might try to squeeze in a pedicure, too. :)

I had a marathon induction, so I second the recs to bring your own pillows (different color pillowcase than white so you can instantly tell which is yours!), a movie or two, and relax as much as you can.
I wish I had brought more snacks for DH, not just for before, but for after. Poor guy was up nearly as long as I was, and he was starving! I brought my own clothes for after, and I felt way more comfortable.

Definitely eat something yummy and light! I made the mistake of eating a heavy meal and felt disgusting once labor began. Definitely spend the day before relaxing and pampering yourself if possible! I got a mani/pedi, baked brownies for the nurses (but baking relaxes me!) and read a book in the bath. I'll second @Foodnerd81: about getting dolled up. It's so nice to feel good walking into what will be a messy day ;)

I went in at 9pm and they did Cervadil. After they inserted it, they told me to go down to the food court and get myself something to eat. I had a burger and fries. They waited 6 hours to start the pit. All in all, the Cervadil thinned things out and then the pit had me fully dilated in about 6 hours, I think? It went pretty quick and I slept through most of it until my epidural wore off.

Eat something, bring a movie/book/etc, bring your own pillows. Get some sleep if you can.

Good luck!

Cervidil was all it took to send me into labor. I was tossing & turning trying to get comfortable in the hospital bed and my water broke. The cervidil came out with the water and labor started immediately.

The day before my induction I got my nails done, bought new pajamas and ate my favorite meal.

Good luck! No advice since I haven't done this yet myself, but I agree with @cmomma17: to take one last belly pic tonight-- get yourself dolled up a little, fix your hair, maybe some make up. You have the luxury of knowing when your final final belly pic will be :)

Maybe rent a movie and just snuggle on the couch, or whatever it is you and DH like to do best, just the two of you.

Eat but don't eat a huge meal! My doctor wanted to induce in the morning (less than 24 hrs notice) so we got pizzas for dinner and I ate a ton! Little did I know I would go into labor on my own a few hours later and burp up pizza after every contraction! Grosssss!

Enjoy some couple time with your DH and run any last minute errands. And take a final picture of your belly! :) Good luck!

Tomorrow is my induction day, and I'm really nervous. The plan is to start me on cervidil upon check-in, allow me to sleep, and then begin pitocin in the morning, if I am still not progressing.

My OB didn't really give me many strict instructions, and is very upbeat and positive about it. I get it - it's not the end of the world, and is a very routine procedure, especially for first time moms.

However, I just feel like I'm about to jump into the ocean without knowing how to swim.

How did you spend the day/hours leading up to your induction? Should I eat a big meal before going in? Anything special I should bring with me to make this process easier?

Thanks! :)
