Aww, we had the same thing happen. We didn't know she threw up until early morning and the whole lower floor of our house stunk. I felt soooo bad but we honestly didn't know! I hope your LO feels better soon!

@MamaMoose: Oh wow. The only time I have experienced a *public* puking was when LO got sick in the car (she was staying home from daycare, and I needed to pop into the office . . . we were literally 2 minutes from the house. I can't imagine puking while being strapped into a chair!). That sounds rough. And I totally would have cried!

@mrskc: EWWW my LO totally swishes it in her mouth and swallows it too. As much as I want to try to teach her to spit it out, I'm afriad that if I try it will just teach her to spit all the time.

@MsLipGloss: HAHAHA, motherhood teaches us some amazing skills. M puked on me in SteinMart on Saturday. And I didn't have the diaper bag with me. I may have cried a little.

@MamaMoose: Oh yeah, suuuuper fun. Not. *sigh* The silver lining was that when she got sick on Friday night, I managed to get both of us all the way down the hallway from the nursery to our bathroom with losing any vomit along the way! Hubs was impressed! :P

@MamaMoose: oh, the shower thing is a good idea. We need to try that. We've been doing the nose frida before bed, but we don't get much since it seems to dry up as the day goes on. Oh and I wish he knew how to spit out the mucous. I hear him cough it up and then swallow it! ugh.

@mrskc: @MsLipGloss: Aw man, I hate to hear you guys are dealing with this too. Cold + Throw up is no fun for anyone!! What has really been helping for us is before bed every night we hole up in the bathroom with the shower on hot hot hot and steam her up good. Then we do a serious nose frida session. And then we prop up the head of her crib mattress. She's sleeping and feeling much better since we started this routine.

@MamaMoose: @MsLipGloss: @mrskc: I would've never thought of that! I think he's working on another tooth and has definitely been snotty. Ill bust out the nose frida and hope that it helps..

@mrskc: he is still asleep! Which is unheard of, though I nursed him at 3 when he was hysterical from changing clothes, etc, and he normally doesn't eat overnight. So no food or throwing up some then :/

First time my son had a stomach bug, it was a virus, no doubt, caused while we were on vacation. My husband and I were also victims of it. In that case, just bland foods and clear liquids.

Poor thing! Has he eaten anything today? I think if he throws up again today or has diarrhea, then it's probably a bug. Has he had a runny nose at all? it might be best to skip story time if you're unsure he's sick. Don't want spread the germs to other kiddos!

@MamaMoose: @MsLipGloss: Happening at our house the last few weeks too! He had a bug and runny nose a few weeks ago and kept throwing up in the middle of the night. Then just this weekend got another really bad runny nose and threw up the other night. I think it's all that snot draining into his tummy.

@scg00387: Try not to beat yourself up about it! It happens to so many mamas . . . my LO didn't even cry when she threw up overnight, she just rolled to the other side of her crib and went back to sleep without any fussing or crying! In terms of food, I would just follow his lead. Offer what you would usually offer him, and see how his interest is. He may not have much of an appetite, or it may be normal. So hard to know! Also, if it is a bug, it may take a week or so before it is all out of his system . . .my Ped told me that it just takes kiddos longer to get over things (whereas you or I would be hit hard but bounce back in 24-28 hours).

@MamaMoose: We have had the same problem over the last two weeks. LO got sick several times from swallowing too much mucous. She would get sick and then be okay for the next 36-48 hours, and then get sick again. She did this for a week. I think she is on the mend now (it has been over 48 hours since her last episode Friday night) . . . This might be my first full day at work in 2 weeks!

Has he had a cold at all? M threw up for the first time last week too. She did it at day care so I picked her up and took her straight to the doc. He told me that it was just from the post nasal drip from her cold.

LO threw up overnight; I thought I heard him coughing loudly but when I looked on the monitor after coming upstairs he'd fallen back asleep and didnt see anything. He woke at 3 hysterical and covered in dried vomit :( :(

Do I keep him home today? Tomorrow? I plan on giving mild foods, anything in particular that's good? I don't know whether I assume this was an upset tummy from dinner, although he'd eaten everything we had before, or the stomach flu. We normally go to story hour, etc. but don't want to spread germs! But mall walking might be ok if he doesn't touch anything?

It's 8:20 and he is still asleep after going to bed at 6:40 (highly unusual) so I'm leaning towards he has a bug.
