I have POTS like @Mrs. Snowflake and get my vertigo via that, so it's a side effect of another condition. I never knew I had POTS until I started getting awful vertigo spells. Mine actually started out being triggered by a glass of wine at a restaurant at dinner and then getting in the car to go home and being horribly sick when I was fine two minutes prior. I'd encourage him to keep trying to figure out what's wrong.

I had this and am still prone to it. Have they done the blood pressure test where they take it, have him lay down for awhile and then he stands up really fast and they take it again? Or done a tilt table test? My blood pressure would plummet which is what it sounds like here too. It was stress induced but not like "oh, this moment is stressful" but this phase of life is stressful and my body was telling me to fix it. Adding lots of fluids and electrolytes helped as did finding ways to help the stressful situations.

Find a PT that is really well trained in vestibular therapy.

@MLE81: Sorry he’s dealing with this...I had what I thought were vertigo episodes begin between my two pregnancies (we’re now thinking it’s something else), and this video was a huge help. Have your husband give it a whirl if he hasn’t already. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yviUa2hA3-o

Have you tried physical therapy? I work in a PT clinic and our PTs treat vertigo and similar conditions. Lots of time it’s an ear issue which can be corrected through PT treatments.

A physical therapist can help if you have BPPV, which they can also test for! Find someone trained in the Epley maneuver. Good luck!

My dad has Meunieres which is related to vertigo. Avoiding overly salty foods, avoiding lowering his head below his body (like when playing with DS) and acupuncture have all really helped him. And when he does have an attack of it or feel one coming on, he takes Zofran and sleeps until it’s gone. Good luck, it’s scary but once you figure out triggers, can be very manageable!

I’ve also had some temporary luck with doing physical therapy maneuvers (from YouTube) alleviating some vertigo sensation. Mostly just turning my neck while sitting and other stuff I feel is unlikely to hurt me.

My allergies cause my vertigo. So I take Flonase and Claritin every day. Flonase I sometimes take in the morning and evening.

I am so sorry your husband is experiencing this. Vertigo is awful. I get it with 2 of my conditions: a brainstem disorder (Chiari Malformation) and POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, which means my heartbeat accelerates when I change positions, causing the vertigo).

I hope he finds answers and treatment!

Wondering if anyone here experiences/has experienced vertigo and may have some advice.

My husband has been struggling with semi-regular “episodes” since March, and although he’s been to the ER twice, our family doctor twice, and an ENT specialist, they are still occurring every few weeks or so. Generally they are relatively short lived, and don’t involve the intense nausea I have heard many people experience, but they are starting to take a toll
on him emotionally and mentally, as he never knows when the dizziness will hit.

He hasn’t been able to identify a “trigger”, but has experienced some episodes while sitting in shallow water in a swimming pool or getting out of a hot tub. He has also woken up several times in the middle of the night and then been extremely dizzy for several hours.

Not really sure what his/our next steps should be, as any tests he’s had (including a CT scan) haven’t revealed any possible causes. Should he be pushing for more testing (maybe a neurologist?), or could it just be something he’s going to have to live with?
