For me, the days before I went back to work were the worst! My first day back wasn't actually that bad. I knew he was in good hands and I checked in on him several times. It just takes time to get back into your work routine. After the first few weeks though, I realized it was kind of nice to get back to work and my old "life" persay. I save my evenings for one-on-one LO time and he looks forward to seeing me!! :D

Good luck friend. It's not easy, thinking of you!

Its funny my daycare this morning actually made a comment about another infant, they said "I can't believe his mom doesn't even call to check up on him". They totally expect new moms to call and check!

I'm so sorry! I was able to watch mine through a webcam and that helped so much. Expect that it's going to take you longer to get tasks done at work because you'll be preoccupied thinking of your baby. And don't worry about calling the daycare to check in - they are used to it. I bring my kindle fire with me on my pump breaks so I can look at my LOs pictures if I'm having a hard time.

I don't have any advice, but just wanted to say that I'm right there with you. Next week is my last week off, and I'm so afraid I'm not going to be able to handle being away emotionally. :(

Like @sloaneandpuffy said, take it one day at a time.

Expect to cry the first couple of days. Perhaps you can leave a digital camera with whomever is watching your LO. Our daycare encouraged us to do this and it was great to get pictures of DD doing things throughout the time she wasn't with us. Since our camera had a video feature we even got some video of "firsts". Also, right before I went back, I arranged to drop LO off at daycare for a few hours to sort of test out how it would feel.

Take it one day at a time and think that the first day or two back will be the worst, and it will get better from there! It's tough but you can do it... hugs. (In my case, the anticipation and dread were actually worse than the actual going back, so I would advise my old self to try to not ruin the last few days at home with that dread....)

I only got 6 weeks maternity leave, and have to go back next week. I do not think I can handle it emotionally. It has been so nice to be home all the time and being the only one to take care of my LO. I am worried about all the things I will miss, and will be a little jealous of someone else getting to hang out with LO all day. Any advice on how to deal?
