@mrsjazz: It is so hard, hopefully it will get easier and maybe the schedule shift will end up being a positive thing as she will be better rested (hopefully). Gah toddlers, we have a dance party every night to knock L out because I need her as tired as possible.

I would try shortening the nap. My son has been a challenging sleeper his entire life, but since dropping the nap at 3 years 9 months, he sleeps through the night ANd falls asleep within 5 minutes of getting in bed.

@littlebittyhouse: Yeah, she's driving us crazy with bedtime right now which is why I have anxiety over a new schedule. I can't deal with a sleepy toddler who won't get up in the morning anymore!

I've been thinking about taking her for a walk around the block (if the weather allows it) when I get home from work because she seems to need some physical activity to get her body ready for sleep. Or a dance party?

@plantains: I will try the shift. We've been doing 8:30 for the past few weeks and now at 8:30 she comes and tells us it's time for bed (even though she won't fall asleep until hours later). We can do 8:20 this week, until we move up to 8 p.m.

@mrsjazz: if it is more of a stalling bedtime issue maybe give her some time to wind down on her own like you listen to one story (audiobook) and them mom/dad will come in?

@littlebittyhouse: She'll be 3 in April. She takes a 1.5-2hr. nap every day. Bedtime has been 9:30, with the process starting at 8:30, but she hasn't been actually falling asleep until 10:30-1am! Ugh.

We can attempt to have her nanny shorten her nap, but it's hard to wake her up if she doesn't want to get up and we do a nanny share where the girls sleep in the same room so it would wake up the other girl--but shortening the nap could help.

Start trying to get her down earlier in progressive installments of 5-10 mins at a time so that the change isn't too much of a shock. How long is her nap?

oh! and we don't read books in his room anymore! books on the couch and then we go into his room to snuggle and listen to the stories and songs station on spotify. he really likes listening to the stories and they seem to help him settle.

How old is your LO? Still napping? What time do you start bedtime?

We just had to do some bedtime tweaking bc LO (2.5) was taking 90min+ with one of us with him to fall asleep. We shortened nap and pushed bedtime from 7:45 until 8:30. He will sleep until at least 7am so I am good with 10.5 hours of nighttime and 2 hours of daytime sleep.

I work very close to home and have a short commute. My hours are also later than the usual 9-5 (I work 10-6). LO and I have gotten in the habit of sleeping in until 8, sometimes I get ready and let her sleep until 8:30.

She is already a bad sleeper. It takes hours to put her to bed sometimes and she won't fall asleep unless one of us is with her.

I will be taking on a new position in the next couple of months with a 9-5 and a longer commute. I will need to leave around 8:15ish, close to our waking time.

I am trying to figure out how to get LO to go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier. Ideally I would wake up at 6:45 to get myself dressed and wake her up or have her wake up on her own around 7 am. We already have crazy bedtime battles and sometimes I have to get her dressed in the morning while she's sleeping because she's too tired.

I need help figuring this out. Luckily, I won't be starting until March or so, so there's time to get us both on track of getting up earlier.

Any tips/advice?
