@Running Elley: My 7 mo old is the same way but he always has been. Even with MOTN wake ups, when DH is snoring softly or turns over in bed, he has to look around and see what it might be! I usually use the ipad, its almost the only screen time he gets so it is a treat for him. Another thought - a special snack in his high chair? Would that work? It will keep him contained and maybe focused for 15 minutes or so.

My lo is the same way. When she hears her sister she pops off my boob, looks for her sister, and smiles at her :)

I use tv when I'm desperate. Or ill turn music on.

@swurlygurl: Haha yes. My baby needs a distraction or she'll pinch my chest or pull my hair or try to grab the other boob... this works pretty well. :)

But Vi wears my jewelry too so... :P

@Running Elley: Honestly my kid would probably be most thrilled with an old remote control or an iphone that doesn't work. Something she knows she's not supposed to have!! It would be exciting even if it doesn't do anything.

Would a nursing necklace help? Something fun and bright so it keeps her attention and she plays with that instead of looking around?

@MamaMoose: Any suggestions as to what kind? Like...what will be so interesting to him that he'll be happy playing with it by himself in his room for 15 minutes? I think that's probably my best bet too but I'm drawing a blank! I definitely don't want to give him screentime every time the baby needs to eat :(

My 7 month old has lately become a VERY distractable nurser. If her brother is talking/playing in the same room where I am trying to nurse her she either won't latch or she'll latch and immediately pop off to turn and look at him. In the past couple of days the only luck I have with having a successful nursing session is when we're in her room, in her glider, with the lights down and completely alone.

The problem is that usually we can't be completely alone. DS always wants to be with us and even if he's being quiet (which he usually is not lol) it distracts her. I was so engorged and in pain yesterday because she would not settle down to nurse.

This morning I let DS watch a show while I nursed her before her nap and she did really well. In the afternoon we were at my mom's so she had DS outside and DD nursed really well. Last night before bed while DH had DS in the other room she nursed really well.

Soooo does anyone have any tips on either how to help her focus with distractions or how to keep my toddler occupied so that he's not distracting her??
