Congratulations! In early pregnancy I get by with trying not to think about it as much as possible. My husband and I basically pretend it isn’t happening because I don’t want to talk about it. I don’t tell anyone except my mother and sister and I go about my day as normal (but I was thinking about it a lot) I did this for both of my pregnancies and worries a fair amount until my babies were out. It didn’t necessarily steal my pregnancy joy, it just was what it was. For my second one I tried to repeat to myself: you’re pregnant, you’re healthy, the baby is healthy whenever I was being pessimistic.

I would tell myself everyday and anytime a worry would come up, that right now I am pregnant. Right now YOU ARE PREGNANT! There's nothing you can do right now but be the healthiest you. And sorry to say the worry will never go away. You think it will but I'm 33 wks with #2 and still worry. But that's what makes you a GREAT mom already. Take deep breaths and live for today because TODAY YOU'RE PREGNANT. Congratulations!!!!

I don't have any advice on calming your nerves but I wanted to write anyway. You have zero control over what is going to happen, good or bad. The only thing that you can do is make sure you are staying hydrated, eating well, etc. and whatever else you can do that you really have control over. I know it is super tough - I have had a lot of experience in waiting for test results, appointments and whatever else and I know that the waiting is awful.

My Bestie was worried about every little thing during her pregnancy and everything turned out great for her and her little boy. She has told me that now she regrets all of her worrying because she didn't get to enjoy the pregnancy as much.

Do your best to enjoy this time and each and every moment. Just think happy thoughts and try to focus on something else to make the time pass by quicker. Keep us updated!!

Agree with the above, and take magnesium. It helps with anxiety and constipation, so a double bonus.

First off, congratulations! You’re off to a strong start with your numbers doubling. I know how nerve-wracking it is before you get to the first ultrasound or start feeling movements.

OK, this is going to make me look crazy but since you asked. I was also really anxious with my first pregnancy, and the one thing that helped me was this webpage:

https://spacefem.com/pregnant/mc.php?m=08&d=10&y=12

Her research seems sound and it somehow helped to see the (average) chance of miscarriage go down with each day my pregnancy progressed. I hope I haven’t just given you something new to obsess over - it truly helped manage my fears.

:goodluck:

@JessieKoger: I’m exactly the same way. I pretty much missed out on all the joy of my first pregnancy because of it. Try to avoid Googling things that worry you. Focus on what IS, not what-ifs. Nothing exists except what IS at this moment. That’s true for every moment of every day. Don’t worry about the future because 9 months is a long time to worry. And trust me, once the baby is born, there’s plenty more to try not to worry about. It’s all part of being a mommy. Think positive thoughts, plan for your baby, pin the heck out of baby stuff on Pinterest... breathe, smile, trust and believe.

There's absolutely nothing you can do about whether the pregnancy sticks or not. It helps me alot in the early days to remind myself that it's out of my hands when I feel anxious.

Numbers doubling is a great sign! Fingers crossed everything continues to go well

I had my first blood work done on Wednesday 10-24 to confirm pregnancy. Levels were 74.41 at about 4 weeks and 2 days. On Friday, 10-26, I had second round down and number doubled and then some at 173.81. During that time I was a nervous wreck, terrified the numbers would not go up. I have first scan appt on Friday, 11-2, and I am a nervous wreck over it. I am the type of person who will stress over the smallest things, but I fear having a miscarriage, as I’m sure a lot of you do too! Does anyone have any advice to help calm nerves? What is something that helped you to get through what feels like forever and a day of waiting for results/appts??
