My LO also wakes sometime between 3-4am. I nurse him one one side and then pump the other father I put I'm back down to sleep. There are days where I get lazy and don't pump but then I wake up to excruiting pain because it's so engorged! I also have my LO empty out both breasts before I sleep. I have to remind myself that it's for the stockpile so I won't get lazy. I now keep the pump on my night stand for easier access.

If your breasts are softer during the day you might still be making plenty of milk, just the baby is eating more.

I had a bit of the same problem so I would wake up and pump just enough that I had relief but not enough that my breasts were empty. It takes a few nights but you start making less at night and don't have pain from engorgement that way.

Wow. In 3 hours you get ultra engorged? Do you breast feed your LO when s/he wakes at 3am? Both sides? I really don't have any advice since I used to get up to pump or feed my LO. but! Eventually your breasts will stop getting engorged. I forget when mine stopped leaking, but it definitely stopped shortly after she started sleeping through the night (12 hours).

I've been having issues controlling my milk supply. I seem not to have enough during the day when the baby wants to eat and then get so engorged and leak at night.

My 6 week old sleeps through the night for the most part like 10 pm to 3 am, so during that time my breast are really full and in pain. Any tips and advice? I'd love to be able to sleep and not wake up to pump.

I pump before I got to bed around midnight.
