My DD is 2y11 mths now, and I'm sure she would still nap if we put her to bed in the afternoon but even if she napped 30 min earlier In the afternoon, she would end up not falling asleep until 10 pm so we tried removing the nap and that helped her to fall asleep around 7:30 pm. If your DD is still sleeping two hours at naps maybe you can start by reducing her nap to a shorter increment, like just one sleep cycle and then wake her up? Or just don't put her to bed for nap altogether? You could just try it for a few days when you have the flexibility in your schedule to see if that helps at all.

It won't be a piece of cake though, cuz she would probably act and look like she reaaaaaally needs a nap just like my DD. DD still rubs her eyes, yawns, gets a bit whiney.... And DD still falls asleep in the afternoon sometimes if we are out and walking with the stroller which happens at least a couple of times per week. In that case we still let her nap because she is conked out tired but wake her after 20-30 min.

I guess that was the first thing that came to mind, as our DDs are not so far apart in age. Unless you think it could be a sleep regression but it sounds like it's been going on for a while and not a sudden change.

@Gracecat Ironic, my DH mentioned that yesterday! So, I thought that if she didn't need her nap then she wouldn't sleep. I assumed it would happen "naturally" but I admit that removing the nap might make sense. How do I go about doing that? I am open to suggestions!

DST has proven problematic and now we are in a bad rut. i need help breaking bad habits please.

The facts:
Lo is 31 mo old.
Prior to DST she would sleep 8-6 and nap 12-2 (it took a lot of work to get her to wake up at 6am, until recently she would wake up between 5-6am)
I was reading/singing and leaving the room with regular checks. In the last few weeks I have been so desperate to get her to sleep I have been laying with her (and often falling asleep and waking up and going to my bed - which I don't really want to do anymore).
She is taking longer to fall asleep on her own.
She has a toddler alarm clock and does not stay in her room until the light is green. She comes into our bed. Ready to start the day not to go back to sleep.

EX: Yesterday we were out in the morning playing at the park and riding bikes. She took a nap 1230-230. (I left the room and she put her self to sleep). She had a playdate in the evening. We went to bed at 7pm. She was awake at 8pm (asked for DH). After that I fell asleep so I assume she finally did too between 8-830pm. She woke up at 430am - came into our bed - and slept for another hour.

Please help. I cant figure out if I should be putting her to bed earlier or later. (I know she is on the lower side of sleep needs and her MO is to wake early.) TIA!
