We had reduced bottles to 3 per day (wake-up, afternoon and bedtime) probably 6-8 weeks before giving up the bottle completely. Sippy cup with water was being offered at other times (we tried many different types). Just before a year we changed to whole milk and left behind formula.

I was incredibly blessed with starting a new daycare at 1. The daycare broke the bottle within 3 days. She started on Wednesday with the routine above. Thursday was reduced to two bottles (afternoon and bedtime). Friday was only bedtime. Saturday was 100% cup.

Like @artbee, I always thought bedtime would be hard. But it hasn't been a big deal. We offer milk at all mealtimes, water at snacks and water before bed. I sometimes worry about if LO is getting enough fluid.

We've oddly had weird success with sippies. Daycare uses hard spout (like the take and toss cups) and have no problem. We had the most success at home with straw cups. Our only issue with straw are the ones that are spill proof we seem to have suction issues with (she sucks, but creates a vacuum and gets no fluids).

We went cold turkey when my LO turned one. Before she turned one she still took a bottle in the morning, after naps, and at night. Instead of giving her the bottle I just gave her the sippy.

The first day was a little weird for her, she didn't really know what to do with the milk and didn't love it as much as I'd hoped so I got a little worried. But she never cried about it.... just kind of drank a few sips, pushed it away, and went on with the day.

By the second day she loved her milk (or whatever is in the sippy for that matter) and will drink it all up. I'll give her a sippy of milk while I'm making breakfast and it's gone by the time breakfast is on the table. So I think it went pretty smoothly!

I thought night time would be much harder to wean, but we just give her a sippy of milk instead of the bottle, then brush her teeth and she was fine with that from day one.

I honestly don't remember! I feel like she wasn't particularly attached to the bottle, so she didn't even noticed. I'm pretty sure she had no bottles by 16 months old. I do remember looking for sippy cups that were as similar to bottles as I could like this one: http://www.diapers.com/p/nuby-sports-sipper-10-oz-6757
My son, however, has been exclusively bottle fed since three months and I have a feeling he will fight this much harder when we get there.

LO is almost a year and I'd like to start weaning her off the bottle and start using a sippy cup full time.. We have a regular sippy and straw sippy but she doesn't seem to excited about using either.

How old was your lo when you started using a sippy full time?

What was your schedule like during the process? (ex. bottle in the morning and at night, sippy during the day?)

How did you get your lo to drink from the sippy?
