@mrbee: I wondered about that for dads. My husband was surprised when I mentioned I give the other baby kisses and hugs. She doesn't request them from him though (he does pick up). The other dad picks my daughter up and I'd be fine with him kissing her on the cheek, but he gives her hugs. Though we have a different relationship since it's just the two of us families.

I'm not sure what's allowed at daycare, so I normally just wave at all of his LO friends. They all yell "Brennan mommy" when I walk in. It's soooo cute!

I think it's tricky as a dad. I am only ever affectionate with the kids of our very closest friends. Mostly high fives, sometimes hugs!

The kids in Lo's class LOVE ME for some reason and always try to hug me; I don't hug them because I don't know if that's allowed/appropriate (I suspect not), but I feel like a jerk so I try to give them a little pat on the back when no one is looking! It's hard with one little girl as she especially seems to dig me and always tries to climb into my lap while I fill out LO's daily sheet. Usually LO is fine with the attention, sometimes she tells them "no! Mine!" :silly:

They also all call me mom/mommy and I don't correct them, I figure at this age that's what they call all women (except their teachers, who they call by name), and every man who walks is is called dad/daddy.

Yep, other kids at daycare always run up to me when I go to pick up LO. My Goddaughter goes there so I give her a hug/kiss/tickle/ect. when I see her. The other kids see that and want hugs too. I have a friend's little girl who always crawls up into my lap when I come, she loves me. I think it's cute, babies/kids have always liked me ;)

I give my care giver's daughter a hug every morning. I hope other parents don't feel weird about me hugging their kids. It's not like I'm going to say no when a baby approaches me with outstretched arms.

I give a lot of hugs at daycare pick-up... very seldom are any of them to my actual child, he couldn't care less I'm there to get him.

Hmmm... I don't have many friends with kids, mostly just family with kids (siblings, ILs, cousins, etc). I've always been very friendly and affectionate with all those kids.
I don't know how I would be towards my friends kids. If I saw them a lot, I'd probably be pretty affectionate (hugs and kisses and whatnot)

Oh yeah, some of our friends kids ask for hugs & kisses and we share the love :-) J's daycare classmates often give me a hug, they're lovers. :-)

My girl doesn't have many friends but she does do a nanny share M-F with another toddler who is 3 months older. Every morning I give my LO a kiss, a hug, and a high five. The other toddler has recently been requesting kisses and hugs. I let her give me a kiss on the cheek when her face isn't all schmootzy and I will give her a kiss on the cheek and a high five. At first I felt weird about it, but she kept requesting it and I've known her for a long time. My LO will request for the other family to pick her up and give her a hug and I'm cool with it.

The other baby also calls me Mommy and we correct her by saying my name, but I have to admit I think it's super cute.

Are you affectionate with your LO's friends? Do they ever ask you for a hug or kiss? How do you handle it?
