She left behind a six month old baby that took years to conceive because of infertility. The teenage boy was the son of a high ranking officer at the local air force base. There was a local story about a girl who killed an elderly woman while texting and driving. The family didn't want her life getting disrupted and making her a target for issues by sending her to juvie and she swore up and down she learned her lesson. She lost her license for a year. Guess who got caught driving? They gave her 24 hrs in a juvenile facility. She got caught a THIRD time because she hit a parked car. I might agree with you if this was really a crazy event where the deaths were perhaps unlikely… but his BAC was like 3x the legal limit for an ADULT. And he drove. Also I think if he was truly remorseful he wouldn't have let his defense team pull this bs stunt. Maybe make him spread awareness of drinking and driving and hopefully helping others make better decisions. I know a family who is in the same position as those victims families and they actually did not want any punishment for the teenager who committed the crime. The driver never showed remorse, she even wore a midriff to court for her trial. She portrayed herself as a victim, there was even an article in a newspaper about her recovery and her struggle to ride her beautiful horses again. Well, good for her. Her sentence was weekend jail so her life wouldn't be interrupted and she could go to college. </p> <p>Before she hit my cousin's car, her parents called her and she told them she was drinking and driving. They told her to drive home immediately (according to the other girls in the car).
