@hergreenapples: Hmmm OK. Most of my boots/work shoes are heeled at least to some height. Good to know they can possibly be let down though also.

@Goldilocks1107: nope no babies r us/toys r us. I definitely am going to order a pile of whatever I get! I do that with dresses sometimes from Nordstrom/Macys, etc. Thanks...

@prettylizy: This too! I lived in leggings with dresses at the end. I had to wear leggings because the dresses were too short by themselves because I'm so tall.

@LazyLightning: I bought Motherhood Maternity jeans and I'm 5'11" (with long legs). Do you have a Babies R Us or Toys R Us that carries MM clothes? At least that way you can try it on in store to know what size you'll need.

I also bought work pants from Gap (including a great pair of cords). For me, my pants gradually got shorter as my bump and water-retaining thighs slowly took up more of the fabric. Same with tops. A super-long, cute top may be a belly baring top by the time you get to the third trimester.

And to take the most advantage of having to pay for returns, I ordered everything I might want from Old Navy and Gap in one giant order. Tried everything on and only kept what actually worked. I think I usually ordered about $300 in clothes and kept $70. Makes it a lot easier to swallow that $6 return fee.

@LazyLightning: these ones come in long. They make in tricky - you have to actually go to each items page to see if it comes in long :/

I'm 5'10" too. I have a couple pairs of pants from Motherhood and they both fit fine, although I certainly wouldn't be able to wear them with heels. I did notice that they also both have enough hem at the bottom to let some out if I decide I want additional length.

Also, because they're full panel maternity pants, I can easily wear them a little lower (so long as my shirt is long enough to cover the panel) to ensure they are long enough.

@LazyLightning: I had to order online, but I knew if the pants didn't work I could return them at any walmart. It sounds like you live in the middle of nowhere. I grew up in a place like that, the nearest mall was 2 hours away. It definitely made shopping a challenge!

Walmart we definitely have. I should check that out. Never even thought of it but of course they have inexpensive stuff there.

@prettylizy: I want to do this but all my tights are too tight in the tummy. they make me sick too! I have one pair of black leggings I've been wearing the heck out of.

@LazyLightning: have you tried using a store locator on the maternity websites? They may have a department in a smaller store that's a little closer. Also, if you have an old navy near you, you can return online orders there.

Oh, and random, but I love the maternity pants that I bought through walmart.com for $18. They're about 3" too long, but I cuff them.

@LazyLightning: Look for a destination maternity or pea in a pod. They are all owned by the same company. They might even let you return in store. Also, the Macy's around here has a motherhood maternity dept, which might give you a chance to try them on, and then order however you are comfortable.

I am 5'6 and bought some regular black pants from the GAP and I have to wear heels with them. So the long should long enough for you. I have seen quite a bit offers on GAP for free shipping both ways. You can always wait till you see that again.

The longs at Motherhood Maternity are fairly long, but I don't know how long the inseam is. Maybe you could buy their skinny jeans in long and if they were slightly too short, it would be okay because that works with skinny jeans. That wouldn't help you with slacks, though. You could take a look at the hem--if there's enough material to let out, that could add a couple of inches (and you can get pants let out for pretty cheap at a dry cleaner's). Their maxi dresses are SUPER long! I'm 5'7" and they drag on the floor.

How tall are you? I'm 5'8 and when I get pants at motherhood maternity, they are several inches too long. I picked up a pair of jeans last weekend and the tailor at work is taking 4" off of them for me.

I think Motherhood has longs. I was able to get away with the regulars though because they sit so much lower on your hips. Plus I was wearing flats every day.

You can get some cheaper ones at Motherhood maternity, but their choices are pretty limited. I actually had two pairs of the same work pants just because I needed more and there were so few long options! I really like Gap for maternity, but I hate spending money on clothes I won't wear for long so it's hard to justify buying maternity clothes there. But I did get a couple dresses there I really loved (and have worn a couple times when I wasn't pregnant.)

I'm already thinking ahead to maternity... only 2 months along but my pants already don't button. Anyway, I don't have anywhere local except Target, but looking online I noticed that a lot of the pants are 31 or 32 inseam. I generally wear a 34/35. I bought a pair of Gap maternity slacks for work on eBay that look like I can take them down... hopefully that's the case.

Is it impossible to find 'long' pants that aren't expensive? I did see that Gap has 'longs' but I'd rather not pay over $50/pair for pants I'm only going to wear a few months, you know? Migth have to, though.
