@bluestriped bee: I just checked our consignment sale tagging guidelines, it says to tag anything that says 6 month in the 6-12 month category. So 3 month would be the same as 3-6month roughly. Don't know how accurate that is based on looking at size charts below.

Carters 3M size guide says that is for 21-24" and 8-12.5lbs
Gap 3-6M size guide says that is for 23-37" and 12-17lbs
Gymboree 3-6M is 23-25" and 12-17lbs
Hudson Organics 3M from Amazon says its for age 0-3M 20-23" and 8-12lbs.

I always thought if it's 3-6 it pretty much means 6.

Took me a while to realize this too! But yes I found the size on clothes to be the size they grow out of it at. Like "6 months" he was grown out of by 6 months. I wasted some stuff I think because I didn't think to put it on him until he was the age in the label!

This totally confused me too! I didn't end up putting my dd in 3 month clothes until she was 3 months and then realized what it actually meant. So yes 6 mo clothes are 3-6.

Yep, 0-3 is 3 months, 3-6 is 6 months, etc. My boys (50-75th percentile) have always sized up a little early. For example, LO2 is 5.5 months and wearing 6-9 months/9 months.

Even within one brand the sizing can be so different. It's really annoying! Carter's is the worst with inconsistent sizing. Fwiw my first did wear 3 m clothes at 3 months old.

yep, agreed with PPs. 0-3 = 3m, 3-6 = 6m, 6-9 = 9m, 9-12 = 12 months. 6-12 can fall anywhere in that area of 9m-12m clothes!

@Madison43: @iluvboba637: @lawbee11: oh, I had no idea. Probably why I'm surprised that they grew out of their 3 m clothes at 4 months and they were small babies. I thought they might fit 3m clothes at 3 months.
Whoops! Didn't realize how the sizing went.

I agree with pp's. I think 6mo is the same as 3-6mo size. Like worn up to 6mo? So 9mo would be same as 6-9mo. And also depends on brands buy some 6mo might be a bit bigger or smaller than other 3-6mo but generally speaking pretty much the same.

Maybe you could pull out some 6mo and compare it to the 3-6mo your LOs are currently wearing

@bluestriped bee: so I think sizing is totally brand dependent. Like Baby Gap sizes run 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, etc....but Carters sizes run, NB, 3m, 6m, 9m, 12m. For example, my 3 month old is right on the cusp of outgrowing her Gap 0-3 clothes and her Carters 3m sleepers, so she's moving into 3-6 from the Gap and 6 m sleepers from Carters. It's just a different way of saying the same thing.

So confused about sizing.

Both babies have outgrown 3m and I took out the clothes I have in 3-6m. It's not much. I'm wondering if I should pull out the clothes I have in 6m. I thought 6m might be too big.
