@Mrsk: I'm not sure if it's part of the clotting panel but they should test for immune issues? There are bees here who are more knowledgeable about this than I am!

@Mrsk: It's actually not fetal testing (they didn't offer me that either)...you can ask for karyotyping for yourself and your DH and a clotting or coagulation panel for yourself.

During AF, i bleed quite a bit more when i'm active. It's quite gross and i just can't.

After my M/C, i was working out quite a bit...like 7x a week, sometimes 2x a day. After i found out i was pregnant, I continued running up to 8ish weeks but stopped spinning. I continued to remain active though. My OB prescribed me progesterone as i questioned my super heavy periods/clotting and whether it was linked to my miscarriage. I was on prometrium during my first trimester. I also cut out coffee/espresso during the duration of my pregnancy (i allowed a latte maybe once every month or so after the first trimester).

I don't think you should take what your psychologist is saying very seriously and would have a talk with your OB. I only know of friends being on bed rest b/c of bleeding/contractions early in the pregnancy.

I'm really sorry to hear that you went through 2 M/Cs. It's not an experience i wish on anyone. :(

@spaniellove: I would love to have the testing done but they don't do fetal testing here until you have three in a row,...but are there tests I can request on myself? I might be able to swing that.

@Mrsk: I had the repeat loss testing done after the second one and found out I had MTHFR, but you mentioned not wanting to do that at this point. There are pros and cons - it gave us answers but can be costly if your insurance doesn't cover it. The dr didn't want to do anything about the MTHFR right away, but after the third m/c I decided to go on the supplements for it and we got our sticky baby the next cycle.

ETA: I should add that we were doing fertility treatments all along, but even IVF didn't work before I treated the MTHFR, while I only had one follicle the cycle that worked.

I'm very sorry for both of your losses. I absolutely agree with @spaniellove: in that your psychologist shouldn't be giving you that type of medical advice.

I had 2 miscarriages before LO and one after him. The bleeding for the 3rd was far worse than the first two and lasted longer. I didn't do anything differently after the 2nd miscarriage when I got pregnant with LO if that helps any. They tested more earlier on once I was pregnant, but leading up to it, I didn't do anything differently. Once I was pregnant with him, I also wasn't put on bed rest.

If you feel a bit uneasy, talking to your OB would definitely help to ease your mind.

@Mrsk: I'm sorry

After my two losses, we did do testing that didn't show much but this is what we did differently for this third time:

- Beta testing as soon as I got a positive
- added progesterone supplements
- added extra folic acid and b complex in addition to prenatal
- added daily baby aspirin to help with any potentially missed clotting issue
- pelvic rest.

@spaniellove: that's what I was thinking, if she keeps on about this, I may have to find someone new.....did your dr recommend anything different after your repeat m/c's?? Did you do anything differently?

I'm very sorry about your loss. But I think your psychologist should definitely not be giving that kind of medical advice. I've never heard of bed rest in first tri just because they've had repeat loss (even after 3 m/c's myself). Some women are put on pelvic rest, but that's different.

I bled more during my MC after I spent time resting and not moving around.

I read that it can be because your body is more likely to clot if you're not moving around, so when you get up and are more active, you pass all that has clotted.

I can't speak for the rest since I haven't had a baby, but I do wish you many many hugs to get through this and that you'll get your rainbow baby soon!

Ok so this may be a long explanation/question, but I'm confused and looking for thoughts, input, experience and advice.

I'm a week post d&c with a missed mc at 9.5 wks. I had a previous mc, natural at 6.5 weeks last July. Each time it has taken us 7-9 cycles to get pregnant, we've had some testing, no male factor infertility and everything has checked out with me, hormones and hsg.

I went to see my psychologist today, as I'm still getting through this mc and she mentioned that she strongly believes that I should be on bed rest for the first trimester to prevent this from happening again. Her reasoning was that she knows many women who have needed this to have successful pregnancies and that I had just told her that today I was having triple the bleeding and cramps than I had yesterday and that today was my first day back to work and that yesterday I spent the day on the couch, she says there must be something going on that I would be bleeding more while up and active.

Anyways, apart from the fact that my psychologist should not be giving me medical advice, which I didn't really like and dh didn't either, do you think she could be right?

I know I won't get any testing until I have a third mc, but I'd like to avoid that anyways. I know that two mcs is fairly common, and statistically speaking could/should go on to be able to have healthy pregnancies,.....

I'm going to ask the gynocologist and my family dr if they think that I should be doing things differently next time, or if there is any reason I should be on bed rest, but wanted to ask the bees first, as my appointments aren't till next week.

So, do you have any knowledge or experience with women needing bed rest to carry a baby to term, esp in the first tri?

Do you bleed more during AF when you are up and active?

Did you do anything differently for your next pregnancy to be able toget your rainbow baby? Did your dr recommend anything in particular?

Am I just crazy?
