There are lots of good ideas and links in here! I'll dig in to some a little deeper, for sure.

I increased my contributions to Sierra Club for their efforts towards the environmental impacts Trump will (& has already started!) causing.

I have also been sharing on social media some of the alarming things like the EPA media blackout, etc, as well as signing every petition that comes through my email and that are promoted through Sierra Club, NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) & other environmental groups, as well as on other petitioning sites for social justice, etc. I found quite a few to sign just this afternoon on https://www.addup.org/campaigns , and I have been writing to our congress and representatives. I do feel like I need to get out and actually DO some things to make more change faster, also, but am working on where and how to do that.

I'm keeping a much closer eye on what's being signed into law than I used to, and will try to get involved with a voting rights organization. I had no idea until recently how convoluted voting rules are in some states and what a pain it is to vote (the lines, the weird hours that not everyone is aware of, the way some places require ID and some don't). So I'm planning to reach out to others and make sure they're familiar with the rules where they live, and don't get blindsided come next election.

My husband brought up Occupy Wall Street when I showed him photos of the marches... he remembers very well how that fizzled because the goals were vague and their drive wasn't focused. I don't think this is the same thing, but he has a point. We shouldn't let ourselves become divided. Maybe that means forming a cause around the basics, our human rights and constitutional freedoms. Maybe that means forgiving differences - I don't think anyone that marched agreed with absolutely everything the others marched for, but so what? They were still standing together.

I just saw this--a weekly checklist of things you can do:

I also thought that this was a neat project:

I'm going to get more involved on a state level. I want to see higher-quality candidates moving up through the system. My federal congresswomen are all progressive and I'm committing to contacting them regularly, but it will be more supportive than persuasive. I really feel like my energies are better spent closer to home for the time being.

I'm thinking about joining the Sustainability council at my university. I'm livid about the recent EPA muzzling and its webpages on global warming ordered to be taken down. I can do something on a microlevel. I can be more sustainable in my own house too.

@Mrs. Sketchbook: It's awesome that you have figured out your issue and what you can do personally to help. There is SO MUCH going on right now and so much to be outraged about but I think people need to figure out the cause that is most important to them and focus as much as they can on that. I think part of the Trump's plan is to overwhelm, distract, and divides people's attention so that the opposition does not coalesce into real effective action.

I've donated to several organizations.
I resurfaced my twitter account and am tweeting at elected officials when they do good/bad.
I am looking for the new march/rally or protest that I can attend.
I need to get involved on a local/in person level and am trying to figure that out. This is the hardest but most important part.

I live in the bluest state and all my reps are Dems and so am a bit at a loss there. If anyone has elected reps that are Republicans I strongly encourage you to CALL them and let them know that you are watching what they do and you will be voting in two years! People can call Ryan Paul all they want about the ACA but unfortunately he really doesn't care about anyone who isn't in his district.

And this is super small, but over the weekend I shot short messages to random people on my facebook--the kind of people that I haven't actually seen in person in years--but people that I see fighting the good fight online. Since I grew up in a tiny town in West Texas, I see a lot of people politely and peacefully challenging the status quo and getting a lot of blowback and animosity in return. And I just took 10 minutes to send every single one of them a message to say I am with them, I see and appreciate their efforts to change society, and their courage gives me courage to engage when I can. Little stuff.

I've joined a local action group that keeps me informed on local needs. But I also try to shoot emails of support or of protest when needed, and I like to donate little bits of money (every little bit helps!) when I can towards causes I believe in. I have it on my list today to donate to the Mississippi Planned Parenthood, the Mississippi democrats, and the Southern Poverty Law Center because of that recent ridiculous pair of tweets from the Mississippi senator.

I'm writing my Senators and Representatives and signing petitions that are important to me (mostly healthcare, public health funding, and women's rights). Not only am I writing to my congressmen to tell them how disappointed I am in the current state of US politics and what I would like to see them do about it, but I also wrote to my Senator who I think is doing an amazing job at standing up for his constituents to thank him for working so hard to fight the good fight! I think it's important to acknowledge the good hard work some of these men and women are doing.

Also, after the election, I put together an extensive list of organizations that support populations/issues I think will be under attack by the Trump administration, and each month I'm picking one organization to donate money to, whatever I can afford.

Environment is my personal issue so I've been donating to environmental charities, have tried to eat majority meatless, stopped using heat, gotten more serious about zero waste after falling off the wagon etc. I think reducing petroleum use is probably the most radical thing you can do right now to fight environmental damage and also rapacious capitalism (rex tillerson, Putin, etc.).

Just a lot of reading and talking with like minded family and friends right now. Trump wasn't anything that seemed remotely serious to me, I couldn't wrap my mind around him as a legitimate possibility.

Tomorrow apparently he's going to restrict Muslim immigration
http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN1582XQ
And apparently a good portion of the population supports this
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/283789-poll-americans-split-on-trumps-muslim-ban-proposal?mobile_switch=standard

So I've been trying to read a lot of more neutral even conservative places and forums (avoiding the cesspools) just to even grasp what frame of reference theyre coming from bc it seems like my thoughts are so far from theirs it'd be hard to convince someone to switch to the anti-Trump side without more reading on my part.

I've been more drawn towards local happenings, and becoming more involved in activism. We are attending an equality march this weekend. Beyond that, I'm trying to step back a bit to listen to what WOC are saying ... really focusing on intersectionalism and listening a lot more.

If you are upset about the state of American politics and/ or anti-Trump, what are you doing now? I didn't attend a match but was so happy to see what a big deal it was. But now I'm wondering what I can actually do. I live in a very blue state so I feel like I'm somewhat limited in what I can do, but inreally want to do something.

I saw this on Facebook and will be following : https://www.womensmarch.com/100/
