We pretty much limit our dining to places that are kid friendly. We have several restaurants in the area that have play areas or outdoor areas to run around. They aren't fast food or anything, just cater to people with kids. Those are the best because we can let him play while we are waiting for food and then eat while we eat.

We don't go out to eat, which is a good thing because L is a terror until food arrives. I have seriously never seen a kid so obsessed with food. We went out to pizza for the first time in like 6 months with my ILs, and she was freaking out that everyone was getting pizza but us. She went through 12 saltine crackers in like 5 minutes, and I didn't want to ask the poor waiter to bring us more for a 3rd time. And I know for a fact she had an orange and string cheese at daycare 30 minutes before we left for pizza, so she wasn't starving.

Haha I thought the rest of your question was going to be "Do you clean up the floor after them?" I always feel bad when I leave a restaurant and there are Cheerios or blueberries or whatever she is eating all over the floor, and frantically try to pick it all up.

We are still pretty "safe" at restaurants at 11 months. She loves just looking at people and is generally pretty happy playing with toys and eating mom and dad's food.

@autumnlove: Same! I could've sworn I made the same promise just a few weeks ago, and then two days ago there we were... at a restaurant... dealing with the same thing. Haha, we'll see how long I last this time. :silly:

Sometimes when DS is being bad by screeching for no apparent reason. We usually hold him until food comes, then put him in his high chair to eat with us. But once he's full and done eating, he becomes squirmy and turns around in his chair and stands up!! Even if we have him buckled in! He does this with the Target shopping carts too! And since he wants to stand, I have to watch him at all times, but if I hold him, it makes eating difficult because he wants to play with what I'm eating.

We cheat and play baby einstein on the phone for him when he gets crazy....we def. wont do that when he is old enough to talk to us or play games at the table but right now when he is in that awkward young toddler stage it works great :)

Our LO gets all squirmy after 15-20 min. Its also hard getting her to eat new foods unless it involves noodles so she doesn't usually eat as well as she does at home if we are not at an asian restaurant.

We then vow to not bring her to a restaurant for awhile, but our ban usually only lasts 2-3 weeks.

Do you ever think or say that you need a break from dining out with your kids?

We say it all the time because our toddler can only stay still for half the meal and I feel like everyone is annoyed with us. Also, my younger toddler has just discovered screaming/screeching in public...not fun!
