Thanks ladies! 1 week seems bearable.

@rrachael: Yeah, I got the same reaction from the nurse about that and the shooting pain in my butt cheeks, but no real answers for relief. :/

I don't remember hem being that significant for me, but my baby was losing weight and I was super stressed about breast feeding.

Tylenol helped ease the pain, and I remember it going away after a week.

Mine weren't that bad but they lasted maybe a week? I was also dosing myself hardcore with ibuprofen. Hope you get some relief soon!

They definitely get better after around day 3 or 4 (in my experience). Hang in there!

I had NO idea about these and when they happened I thought it was a complication from my c-section. I think the nurse might have laughed at me a little. Mine were worst the first couple days then happened randomly every few days until like three weeks or so. Not fun :(

I was doped up on post csection meds so I don't remember the pain being too bad. Tylenol and ibuprofen are safe while breast feeding.
I do remember the crazy chills pp. I had no idea that that happened and freaked out.
You'll be feeling better soon. And in the meantime rest and snuggle.

I didn't have these at all with my first, but they were absolutely brutal with my second. I felt like I was in labor all over again. So miserable. I got some relief from using a heating pad (is that what they're called? I can't remember right now) while nursing, as well as lots and lots of Motrin.

I'd say they were really bad for about three or four days and then started to taper off significantly.

@shopaholic: yes, but it makes the uterus shrink quicker, so you won't have to deal with it as long.

@katiew92081: Doesn't RRLT make the uterine contractions stronger?

WHAT?! When did you have this baby?! Congrats!

And yeah, they really suck. I was on high-dose Tylenol for about a week. They do taper off though.

Again, no idea you had her... I'm so excited for you! Congrats!

But, yeah they were brutal for me too. I had to take Percocet to get some relief those first few days. They get less painful/less frequent each day though. But I have heard they get worse with each kid, so we have that to look forward to!

One of the things I had no idea about postpartum were these horrible stomach cramps from your uterus shrinking back to size and place? OMG! I'm only 2 days PP (or 3? Do you count the actual day you gave birth as PP?) but these "afterpains" are miserable! They really DO hurt more after each BFing session, and with our cluster feeding so far at night, it's almost unbearable because I cant seem to relax or rest even when K is sleeping. That's in addition to the nausea and sudden waves of being freezing cold!

Anyone care to tell me how long their afterpains cramping lasted? I read a couple of places said 2 days, but I'm not really buying that with how I feel!
