3yr old picks up his toys, sets the table, puts clothes in the hamper, helps make his bed, puts away his clothes, throws stuff away, puts his own dishes in the sink, gets certain things out of the fridge, gets & holds the dustpan, helps with putting laundry into the machine, fetches stuff I've asked for, helps carry in the groceries (usually just a light bag) & wipes down surfaces.

My 19 month old throws out her own trash, cleans up spills alongside me, throws her diapers away, puts clothes in hamper, puts dishes on bottom of dishwasher, wipes the table in front of her spot, and likes to help me dust!

My 2yo can
Put clothes in the hamper
Put dishes in the sink
Spray vinegar water on the windows and wipe (obviously he does a lousy job, but the point is practice)
Use a little broom and dustpan
Vacuum (again, not actually useful)
Put away toys
Put things in the trash
Fetch things for Mama
Wipe surfaces with a baby wipe
We're working on putting away clothes
Next up is working on unloading the dishwasher

When I remember to, I have my 3 year old clear her dishes (usually at breakfast b/c those are completely ckean with no leftovers to spill), put her clothes in the laundry, put her shoes on the shoe rack, bring me things for the baby, etc. When I'm feeling patient she sorts socks, but I have to get actively involved in that.

My 17 month old can be instructed to put away soecific toys and takes her diapers to the trash. She actually often does the latter without being asked - she loves throwing stuff away!

Mine (3 in a month) helps set the table, clears her place, picks up her toys and helps empty the dishwasher. She also helps with sweeping, dusting and other cleaning, but that's more recreational than a chore for which she's responsible.

LO is almost 2 and we have her pick up toys, put her dirty laundry in the basket, put wet clothes in the dryer, throw away trash/diapers, and feed the dog. She also occasionally helps us water the plants if I'm feeling like dealing with water everywhere.

Other ideas for toddler/preschool age - help with laundry by separating whites from colors, putting clothes away, or matching socks. Load/unload the dishwasher, set the table, help restock supplies like diapers or toilet paper, put away groceries, dusting and wiping up spills.

LO is 2 and I have her put her dirty clothes in the hamper and she helps me unload the dishwasher. She'll "help" me wipe the floor and counter with her own towel when I'm cleaning.

What are some "chores" that are appropriate for a preschool age LO? Besides picking up toys, is there really anything they can do to help out? I obviously don't want anything difficult but just little things here and there, can you help mommy by...

Any ideas?
