Her oldest bridesmaid was in her 50's, and her 18 year old son was a groomsman (also walked her down the aisle). Sometimes a bride or groom chooses to have a parent or even grandparent as a bridesmaid or groomsman. It was adorable. </p> <p>I don't think it has as much to do with age as relationship and other responsibilities. </p> <p>In my 20s, it didn't take much for me to agree to do it. It was fun and it was an honor. </p> <p>Being older and knowing what all it involves, I'd hesitate more. I would imagine an older bride would often have older bridesmaids. </p> <p>That said I worked with someone, probably in his late 40s or early 50s, who thought it was ridiculous that his wife was being a bridesmaid, doing to party and the matching dresses and everything. In theory, no, but someone might be at a stage in life where the commitment is too much for them to handle.
