The one indoor play spot we go to is in a big mall and it is always swamped and usually there are at least 1 or 2 moms there with newborns in bucket seats sleeping while older kids play. And if he is on a climbing structure (eg about to go down a slide), and he sees another kid approaching he will wait there so the other kid ends up coming close to him and then tries to interact. He doesn't often touch them but he will be all up in their face smiling etc. They usually just want to get past! Fiona is a big fan of hugging our legs/climbing us at home. And while she is afraid of men (other than B) she is pretty much cool with all women. So she FREQUENTLY walks up to women standing around watching their own kids and hugs on their legs/grabs their butts lol. They have no boundaries as far as touching each other and no concept of personal space (twin problems, I guess). So yeah, they do all sorts of weird things to other people. Once at story time Alice went up to another mom and started stroking her knee. She was like oh she's very sweet and I'm like yeahhhh she wants your muffin, back away now strange little baby. They do their fair share of playing when we are out and about, but they really enjoy people watching. Oh, just remembered that Blake fondled my brother's girlfriends cleavage while we were taking pictures at my sister's kids baptism. Little 2 year old just walked up to an older kid (5?) and bit his hand. Older kid was sobbing and his mom was hugging him. Mom of 2 year old saw it and didn't do a thing. But I think it's personality, too. Like hitting/pinching/biting other toddlers - totally normal, but not every kid does it. It wasn't until recently (he's 2) that he's been less reluctant to just go and play with other kids. Even on play dates previously, he'd go and play on his own. Not so much with the other kids. She is physically capable of doing at least some of the stuff (crawling through tunnels, running around, exploring, some easier climbing, slides, swings), and she likes that stuff okay with some direction from me... but mostly she just wants to walk around and stare at all the people/kids lol. Her preferred things, in order, are: </p> <p>1) Stealing people's phones, shoes, and/or water bottles<br /> 2) Staring at/trying to climb on other parents<br /> 3) trying to pet the other children<br /> .<br /> .<br /> .<br /> 4) actual playing (mostly if prompted by me lol)</p> <p> We are generally the youngest at the playgrounds so I'm wondering if this is just an age thing that is really common-- or if I just have a bit of a social butterfly(/thief) and its more of a personality thing. :) </p>
