@matador84: What helped us with biting was reading that was called "Teeth are not for biting." We would read every morning and night. We also encouraged him to use his words and asked him what to do if he was in a situation that would make him want to bite. We also encouraged positive use of teeth, such as teeth are for smiling.

@edelweiss: @littlek: i have no idea. I know they are at max for state ratio in all rooms so it might be a while. Good to know your little one struggled when he was the oldest too. No excuse for his behavior, just trying to diagnose.

@T.H.O.U.: he's normally so loving. It's definitely so outside the norm for him.

My LO struggled when he was the oldest one in the classroom. My guess is that he is struggling communicating with the younger kids. When does he get transferred to the next room? Transition periods are the worst. Hang in there!

First of all it's good they recognize this isn't his normal behavior or personality.

One minute is plenty long enough or they will forget why they are there.

aw, i'm sorry he's going through a rough time. i feel like i've seen other threads where an LO misbehaving was sometimes due to being in a transition age/phase between different daycare classrooms, and that the problems subsided when the LO went to the new daycare room. have they said anything about when he will be able to move to the next room?

Yesterday, DS bit a kid at daycare. Today, his teacher said he was extremely aggressive, kicking, pushing, pulling hair of other kids. I so sad. He is normally so, so sweet and his teachers agree it's out of character for him.

He is the second oldest in his room (12-18m) and he's 19 months, so I wondered if that was it. She thinks he's acting out because of the new baby. They put him in time out but only for 1 minute, which I don't think is long enough.

So sad and I'm not sure how to handle his behavior since he's only occurring at daycare.
