I prefer the first one for looks, but like them both.

I agree with everyone that the long term part isn't really that important to me. Sure, that's nice, but so is getting to pick out new furniture. And I definitely wouldn't have taken a full size bed with me-- DH and I need at least a queen, and I don't think cribs convert to queens. I would think of what you like as a crib first and the long term use second. Especially if you want to have another LO.

Thanks ladies! I'm pretty positive I'll order the Modena. She's still in our room anyways so I like that it "seems" smaller having all the sides the same height.

I still want to get her some piece of "forever furniture" but think I'll wait until we can get a high quality piece made, maybe a dresser or chest.

@Mrs. Pen: For our next lo, I figure P will still be in a/the toddler bed so we'll have to get another one anyways... Most likely. And if DH liked the grey then I would TOTALLY be getting that and it'd be a non-issue on choice. lol

@prettylizy: Lol... come to think about it, neither do we!

We don't have a single piece of mod furniture in our house (I seriously don't feel cool enough to pull it off! lol!) So I voted for #1

I prefer the modern one but that's just my taste. Plus you never know whether the quality of #1 will last 18 years anyway, and like others said you/she might want a different bed anyway. Go with your gut on the style and worry about her big-girl bed later!

I would go with option two. I actually regret buying LO all "forever" furniture. It's all so matchy matchy and I'm sure 18 years from now it will look dated and he probably won't want it, especially since it all is already getting dented, scratched, and the crib has been chewed on. So for that reason I would choose that second crib.

@runsyellowlites: I kind of agree with pp's about letting P choose her own furniture when she's older. I didn't get to! But I never would have wanted to take my childhood bed with me into marriage! something about that is just weird to me... you never know how she might feel about that.

Oh and also - if she were to take her bed with her when she's older - isn't a convertible crib a full? not a queen?

I like the modena - that's the one we have and love it! We have it in grey though.

Moderna crib. Since you already narrowed down your choices to two great looking cribs there's no need to throw another in the mix.

What if your DD doesn't like her bed or simply wants to buy something new with her future SO? Also like a PP mentioned what if she wants to a room makeover and pick out her own bed. I remember fondly at five picking out the quintessential pink and white 80s furniture, and then at 16 picking out new furniture when I upgraded to a queen.

I like the Modena. I prefer the look of it though, 4-in-1/3-in-1 was not really a huge consideration for us though since we'd go to a twin anyway.

Thanks ladies.

I have a dresser that I got when I was 11 (gifted to me) that I still have & has followed me through the years so I really like the idea of a long term piece of furniture that she could keep.... guess we could wait to do that until she's a bit older to do that.

I do see the poll results are just as split as I am though. Sigh. lol

I like the more modern one too! By the time your DD needs a grown up bed, you might want to buy a totally different bed altogether. Or she might want to choose her on bed.

Does option 1 come with the conversion to the full size bed? My son's crib is similar to that but apparently, for our crib, there's no conversion to the full size bed. I'm supposed to buy some sort of wire frame to make it a full. I kind of feel like a I want to get a better frame as his long term bed. He's still in the toddler setting now.

I like the 2nd one, but it's just a matter of taste. Though it sounds ideal and would be wonderful if your LO likes the style, I remember being in Jr. High wanting to pick out a bed that I liked on my own, etc.

So earlier I posted that I was FINALLY ordering P's crib.... after 9 months plus another 9 months of putting it off (we actually considered going cribless).

Well I THOUGHT I had decided.... but I just don't know!

First choice: Baby Mod- Cadence 4-in-1 which, given it holds up, could grow with her until she moves out! I really like this idea b/c I know how I felt getting to take "my" bed when DH and I got married and it gives me the warm & fuzzies thinking about it. I'm just not sold on the "traditional" look of it BECAUSE.....

Second choice: the modern looking Baby Mod Modena 3-in-1... I love the more modern look but don't like that it only goes to a toddler size day bed.

I mean do we really NEED her crib/bed to go until she's all grown? I guess it just being her bed for the next few years would be sufficient.... idk... I can't decide. Boo....

I did find ONE that I thought felt more modern AND converted all the way to the full size bed but it's $500 bucks and DH squashed that quick! =/ He's wanting something less than 250 & dark wood colored....

So which one ladies?
