I know what you mean. She's 6 months now and since 2 months has woken up maybe twice in the MOTN. It always takes us by surprise, but we just give her a bottle and then settle her back down again. Seems to work.

I feel you. Twice the past week or so DS has awoke screaming at 2AM. Both times I've gone in to check on him and he was fine but cried when I left the room. It wouldn't be too big a deal except my LOs share a room and I don't want him to wake up DD. It is amazing how much your day can be off when you get 15min less sleep at night.

Not fun! We had this happen around the time my LO was 10.5 months old too. I was very newly pregnant and was dying when she suddenly started waking up around 3 or 4 a.m. After a trip to see family out of state it got worse. We tried sleep training (sleep sense program) for 2 days and haven't had issues since. Hopefully it was just a fluke for you guys!

I feel you! We had a one off cry-fest the other night at about 9pm. I think it was teething related. We hadn't gone to bed yet so it wasn't the end of the world but I was dumbfounded!!! I ended up bringing her downstairs for a bit (she was actually upset), giving her some milk and then we put her back to bed about half an hour later but I remarked to DH that I had forgotten what to do (DD wakes up one most nights but she just needs her dummy putting back in and she drifts back off).

@wonderstruck: you can try leaving a sippy of water in the crib - maybe he would have drank that and then went back to sleep?

4am!?!? By that point, I'd let him work it out himself instead of tending to him. LO had a random wake up last week around 2-3am. He usually gets up by 7am, so I let him work it out since he had a paci and loveys.

@Mamaof2: Yeah, bringing him into our bed doesn't work - it's been an epic disaster every time we've attempted it!

I did end up feeding him a bottle and he went back to sleep after that. Fingers crossed it was a fluke!

Ugh. I feel you (except I'm not pregnant so that would be extra icky!).

L got up at 5 today. :/

Oh man!! 4am wake up, yuck!! Maybe bring him into bed with you so that he'll go back to sleep or at least play by himself with you in sight. It's only for a few hours so maybe it won't be a bad habit?

Hoping its just a fluke and tomorrow he sleeps better for you! I would have just brought him into my bed in the hopes that maybe he would lay with me while I tried to rest a little more

Ugh, we deal with middle of the night wake ups so infrequently that I have no idea what to do right now! Our 10 month old has been STTN for a very long time now, but at 4AM L woke up crying in his crib...I waited a bit to see if he would settle back down, but no luck, so I went to check on him. He did have himself kind of crammed into the corner of the crib and it looked uncomfortable, so I picked him up and moved him. The second I picked him up he was all smiles, but of course once I put him down it was immediate screaming, which has barely calmed down over a half hour later. I made the mistake of going in once more about 10 minutes ago to reassure him that I'm still here but it's not time to get up yet. Pretty sure he just saw that as 'Mommy's here! She's going to let me be up for the day! Oh wait, no, she's leaving again?!'

I want to cry, he sounds so upset  But I know he just wants to be up for the day, and how jacked up would both of our sleep schedules be if I let him get up at 4AM? I'm pregnant and tired, kid...go back to sleep! Ugh.

How did you deal with middle of the night wake ups as your LO got older? I don't think he's teething, and he ate a normal amount yesterday so he shouldn't be hungry, although I'm considering feeding him a bit to see if that would help - but I don't know, my mom instincts are failing me at the moment, I'm not sure what is the right thing to do.
