@Bao: it was all the way to low, lol!

@scg00387: @Mrs Green Grass: @mrskc: hmm, good to know. I thought I was gonna lose a nipple!!

@Mrs Green Grass: I stopped seeing milk come out after 5, but kept going for 2 more, nothing came out though. I felt my boob and it was super empty..so I wasn't sure if I should keep going?

@BabyBoecksMom: nope, didn't hurt!

--

LO had just eaten from the other side about 15 minutes prior to that, so maybe I didn't choose the best time. It was also 2 pm here, haha. Let's see what I get when I'm actually engorged! I thought about pumping one side while she nursed, but now that she's older, she'd totally grab at it.

I'm only pumping to freeze a little bit for ice cubes for her teething feeder, and to see if she'll start taking a bottle for DH so we can get out once in awhile. Not building a stash or enough for a day or anything, so I'm not too panicky - just wondering why I already forgot all my pumping knowledge!

Does it hurt? (well, anymore than normal nursing)

Also, I had to pump for 30 min to empty each breast, and if it was later in the day, I would only get about 2-3 oz.

The purple nips thing happens to me too. I figured it was normal. Maybe watch videos of LO to get a let down. And breast compressions really help.

The purple (or black) is totally normally and common and has nothing to do with the flange size. If you put pressure on it, it will immediately go back to the right color!

For amount I would just think it might take longer to get a full let-down? Try doing compressions (squeezing your breast from the edges in) to help it down. I have to pump for a full 30...

That happens to me too I figured it was just from the suction.

Maybe it's because it's not used to the pump. Do you have it set too high?

Um so clearly I haven't pumped in months (since 6w, LO is 5m).

I just started pumping again, looked down and my nipple is so dark, dark dark!! purple.

Flange too big? Too small? My nipple was perfectly centered and not rubbing against one side or anything.

I also only got an ounce after 7m. Holy crap. I used to get 5!
