Thanks, Mrs. Bells! I'll keep those in mind. I'm trolling ebay for Bumgenius OS AIOs, so I'm hoping to get a few deals.

We bought all ours used so they were about $6 a piece for Bum Genius 3.0s. We love them and they work great. I've replaced some of the elastic, but that's really simple.

@cyneswith: I purchased 3 GroVia shells and pkg 50 biosoakers on babysteals for $37 (plus shipping..sigh) and 3 (very good used condition) BG 3.0 on the facebook cloth diaper swappers for $30!

If you start early, you can find deals that make it a little more affordable, I think.

I think (depending on other factors) I'm only going to aim for 20-24 diapers to start with. I don't mind doing laundry every or every other day if I need to, especially since I'll be home at first. I plan to add some to the registry and hope for the best, but I'll deal if no one buys them.

I also plan to register for a ton of prefolds (in my area, they're used as spit cloths, even better than those dinky little ones they sell!) and I will for sure get those. If I pick up some covers, I'll be okay for a bit!

I use gdiapers and I've never had an issue with blow-outs, usually that happens when the diapers are too small or too big.

I have 6 of the g pants and 24 cloth liners. In a pinch, I can fold a prefold and use it as a liner, but so far I haven't had to. I bought the 6 pack of g pants and the cloth liners when diapers.com was having a sale.

I use bg elemental, the $25 diapers. I thought the price was pretty crazy at first too, but after thinking about the fact that they're one size so once you buy them you're done, that made me feel better. It's just that initial cost.

I don't use gdiapers, but I have a friend who tried them. She said they were way too expensive, they're more about being environmentally friendly than cost effective. And she had an issue with blow outs

I'm interested in cloth diapering for the cost factor. It seems like one-size all-in-ones are possibly the best for price/convenience, but I haven't been able to find vaguely reputable ones for under $25 per diaper - we wouldn't see a savings for over a year. I know our local stores carry gDiaper stuff - does anyone know the cost comparison on those? I want to make cloth diapering affordable and convenient as possible, and everyone I know who cloth-diapered had the flat diapers with pins...
