@erinbaderin: that’s not ok, everyone should wear headphones on the plane if they’re going to be on their tablets.

@erinbaderin: nooooo! That is one of my biggest pet peeves—people listening to their phones or tablets in public without headphones. I think it’s rude at any age and definitely never allow my kids to do it.

@erinbaderin: That’s a hard no for me - not ok at all. The parents should have brought headphones so that the kids aren’t disturbing others.
I will say I have been on the plane with adults who do this too… I will never understand. I don’t want to spend a 2.5 hour flight listening to the person beside me play Candy Crush 🤦‍♀️

Hijacking your thread for another airplane etiquette question - I’m currently on a plane where kids in both the row behind me and the row across from me are watching shows on tablets without headphones. Is this ok? I would never let my kids do it and it’s making me insane but there was a kid behind me on the flight in doing it too.

@Lahela017: thanks! yes, would have them put on their shoes when walking or going to the bathroom.

Agree with others. I wouldn't think twice about it. Just have them put their shoes back on if they walk to the bathroom or something. If they are in their seat, I don't think most people would even notice.

@hellobeeboston: @Corduroy: great! thank you! my kids like taking off their shoes on a long car drive, and i think they'll want to/be more comfortable without shoes on our long flight. will just make sure they keep their feet to themselves.

I think it's totally fine, especially if it's a long flight.

I've taken my kids shoes off before because they end up kicking the seat in front of them occasionally - even when they're trying their best and I'm watching them closely. I find taking the shoes off lessens the impact of the occasional kick.

As long as their shoes aren't getting into other people's areas and they aren't sticking their feet by strangers, I wouldn't think twice if kids had their shoes off, especially on a longer flight.

As an adult, I wouldn't take my shoes off while on a plane, but what are your thoughts on a child doing it, ages 5 and 8. Just wondering what the proper etiquette is?
