Where are you seeing them - Offutt isn't until July and they permit small bags, etc, and the Lincoln airshow appears to have VERY strict guidelines. I'd email someone, seems like that's a question they should have on their FAQs.

Get the ear protection early and see if your kids will tolerate it - it was a no-go for us last time we tried. My DH flies and is very serious about not letting LO go to the noisy flyovers unless there is protection, so we went to the static displays and then took a walk off-base (near home at the time, but on public trails) and watched from afar during the "fun" flights.

We've been to tons of airshows and I've always been able to bring a backpack. Depending on where it is at (military base is pretty strict) they may want you to take everything (or almost everything) out so they can give it a thorough check. We brought a stroller and small cooler for bottles and that was fine too.

I'm excited to take the girls to a local Blue Angels Airshow, the girls have never been to something like that so I hope they enjoy it! The only awful thing is we can't bring in a backpack which is what we use for a diaper bag on outings. I'm hoping they will make an exception, online it says baby food and coolers are okay.
