My son had a dairy intolerance (not allergy) and silent reflux. Nutramigen was awesome for him.

We ended up getting Alimentum last night and he is finally eating without the congestion, gagging, and screaming! It's so nice to see him at peace. Interestingly, the rash on his face is also going away.

We tried 3 formulas for our little guy, and Nutramigen worked for him. However, he did not have reflux from the formula. Instead he had other digestive issues that caused us to switch. Fair warning--it smells horrible, and I am told it tastes horrible at first too.

We didn't change formulas and did Zantac. And it was amazing

@MamaMoose: @swedishfish: Thanks! He is completely refusing any of the three at this point and just screaming when the formula hits his throat. He is so not a crier/screamer and I've really never heard him cry even a fraction of how much he's cried today...they're recommending using a syringe for the rest of the night (gah, just threw out all my IF supplies!) and coming in tomorrow to see about some Nutramigen. Sigh.

I breastfed for 6 months and LO was fine with dairy in my diet but wasn't able to take the milk protein or soy formulas. She got hives. She also spit up quite a lot. R has been on Alimentum since September and she's done much better on it.

My doc doesn't do allergy testing on infants since they change so often anyway. So really your only option is to try it and see if it works. I breastfed so I did elimination for allergies but I have heard from friends that Alimentum was great for their LO's.

I suspected recently that LO had a milk allergy and now the pedi says he has reflux for sure. He wanted to switch formulas before using Zantac. Similac Advance didn't work and neither did Similac Sensitive or Spit Up, so the next step I think is the hydrolyzed stuff. Given that LO hasn't actually had a test for milk allergy yet, I'm wondering if there's a chance it'll help...
