Update: he has been sound asleep for over 4 hours! I thought I'd be in there a ton because he'd be fussy or crying, but nope. It is weird that I'm sad? I miss sleeping next to him! He apparently doesn't miss it. ;)

Thanks for the advice! I put him in his crib with his sleepsuit and binky and he's NOT happy about being in there. He naps in there, but I think he notices the difference with his bedtime routine. I guess I'll work on getting him adjusted to the crib and try weaning him from some of his sleep crutches later on.

My experience with the 'all at once' approach was pretty miserable so I'd probably do some sort of staggering with those three things...

@Pepper: That's what I would do if it were me! It's good that he's been sleeping on a flat surface. M went from the PNP to her crib without any issues at all.

@lawbee11: That's the main problem. I want to try a modified CIO... Soothing him every 5-10 minutes if he is too worked up. It's impossible to do that when he's laying next to me. I also think he hates his cosleeper now. He's getting too big for it!

Maybe the solution is to get him adjusted to sleeping in his room first, and then paci/Sleepsuit wean him.

Are you planning to let him CIO when you paci wean? I'm not anti-CIO at all, but I don't think I'd be able to do it if she were in the same room as me!

You should do whatever you think will work best, since you know your baby better than any of us. If it were me personally though, I think I would side with @Cherrybee. I would do everything at once except for the move to the new room. That is a step I would prefer to take at a time when everything else is going well so that the baby has more positive associations with sleeping in his own room.

@edelweiss: That was my thought. Just get it all over with!

@Cherrybee: Ahh this is my fear... though I will be going in to soothe him every 5-10 minutes (that's my plan, anyway!). He takes naps in there, but always with the pacifier. Maybe I'll sleep in there for the first few nights...

Blimey!! I think that I would feel sad for LO in his own room for the first time without his source of comfort (paci). i wouldn't want him to associate sleeping in his own room with crying and nobody coming to soothe him.... so I, personally, would split it up!

But take my advice with a pinch of salt because my baby isn't exactly SSTN is she?!! :silly:

go with your gut! in your shoes i would probably do it all at once because i would worry that each change would bring its bumps, so might as well get it over with. we also had to quit the pacifier cold turkey when LO was 10 weeks because we were having to replace it for at least 30 minutes for every single nap and bedtime.

and who knows, maybe with being able to roll over, you LO might sleep better on his tummy.

LO's sleep has been awful lately, with 15+ wake ups a night because he wants his pacifier (which he spits out in his sleep, or tears out of his mouth when he's awake). He sleeps in a cosleeper in our room, in a Magic Sleepsuit.

I don't have much of a choice but to wean him from his pacifier at night because it's causing him (and me!) to get terrible sleep. While I'm doing this, I was thinking about switching him from the Sleepsuit to a sleepsack (he's starting to roll) and move him into his crib in his room. Is this too much change at once? Or a good idea because he's going to be so upset with the pacifier weaning anyway?
