@CATCHAFALLINGSTAR I had an AMH very low at age 37. We were in the process of tests and in between, magically got pregnant with number 1. Now at age 41 we are looking for number 2 and have one embie on ice from 3 cycles. Still have hope and it only takes one.

@CatchAFallingStar: me! I've seen you in other threads :-) . I had 'catastrophically' bad levels, .3 amh, 33 FSH, very few follicles (2 I think), spotty, drawn out periods, low progesterone and testosterone. It's kind of a long story (I did post the whole thing a long time ago) but after my RE cancelled my IUI cycle bc my FSH was a record 33, I got pregnant naturally, with just progesterone suppositories. It was a "miracle"... Or was it? I was 31 which helped but looking back, I just don't hold much salt to the DOR diagnosis. It might take you and I longer and we might MC but I firmly believe there is more to getting pregnant than those lab numbers. The science on it is very unsupported anyway.

Hoping to get this thread started again. I'm 38 now and have just started testing with my RE for baby #2. Still waiting for my AMH results. The only number I have so far is antral follicle count, which is 5. Anyone else diagnosed with DOR?

@spaniellove: the cycle before my last miscarriage, they did an ultrasound prior to ovulation to see my follicle size and everything was perfect. I don't remember the size but she said I'd ovulate in about 2-3 days and I did, right on schedule (based on OPKs). I got pregnant that cycle but lost it at 6 weeks 6 days. I seem to ovulate on my own like clockwork and have good levels of progesterone. (The RE didn't do any hormone testing during ovulation, but My old OB tested my FSH once on the day I ovulated. It was 20 something but I guess it's supposed to be high when you ovulate.)

@travellingbee: Have you ever done a monitored cycle without meds just to see what day you're ovulating and how big your follicle is, what your blood levels are, etc, at ovulation? That turned out to be key for me in figuring out how to get and stay pregnant. I also wanted to suggest that if Clomid doesn't work, not getting FSH tested the cycle immediately after because Clomid is not the most FSH-friendly med and can send FSH up artificially for a while.

I have DOR with an AMH of 0.7 and FSH of 10.9. We've gotten pregnant and lost 2 in the 9 months we've been trying. Not sure we can afford IVF right now, so we are proceeding with a monitored clomid cycle just to see what happens. Mostly because it's cheap and we've been getting pregnant but poor egg quality means they aren't sticking.

In addition to DOR, my SO and I had MFI. We did a fresh IVF cycle in July 2014 and am currently pregnant with a singleton from a eSET. My AFC at the start of my IVF cycle was still around 11. I ended up needing to stim for a longer number of days then the RE originally expected and I was on a higher stim dosage. We transferred 1 good quality blast on a day 5 transfer and froze 2.

Our RE noted that if we ever do another fresh cycle we would likely change the protocol because while we retrieved 17 eggs, there were 6 that were immature or over mature and did not fertilize, we also lost of embryos getting to day 5 transfer.

I was finally diagonosed with mild PCOS and DOR in April 2014 after switching clinics and having 3 failed IUIs. (I have had a low AMH of 1.35 when I first went to the RE, but it has fluctuated over my journey.) I was put on metformin (for the PCOS) and dexamethasone for the DOR and we tried another 3 more IUIs, which were unsuccessful. That is when we switch to IVF. My clinic wanted me to skip the fresh transfer, so we froze our 7 embryos in Oct 2014 and waited 2 months for my body to get back to normal after all the stimming. We transferred 2 in Jan 2015 and I'm currently pregnant with twins!

@MrsMccarthy: I hope you are KU by September! Some of the options with DOR I think range from TI w/ good monitoring, certain supplements (not really as cheap as it sounds), very low stim injectibles (don't need IUI) with monitoring, and mini-IVF. I wouldn't do Clomid, though, if it's offered.

I have not been formally diagnosed with DOR but I am almost 37 and back in 2011 just before we conceived our son I had an AMH level of .5 , FSH was 7 and I believe E was 21. The last two numbers are in the normal range but my AMH is in the low arena. We did conceive my son after one very lucky honeymoon "try" (quotes because we weren't trying but didn't use BC and knew I was in my window on that day). I now on month 5 of TTC #2 and ill admit its a scary place to be. I have been nursing my son though and only last month did I have him down to only two sessions a day. Now he is down to one so I hope t will help and I won't be dealing with DOR issues. We will fully wean and probably look into lower cost fertility options if we are by KU by September when my son turns 2.

I was diagnosed with DOR a few months before our first IVF cycle in 2011. That one was cancelled due to high progesterone but we did it again in January 2012 and had success. My AMH went from a 1.1 to a .6 in only about 6 months or so. We were told to not wait long for IVF, which we hadn't wanted to anyway after battling infertility issues and surgeries for a few years already. My AFC was only a 4 as well. Yet I got 13 eggs, which was way more than we had hoped for. Now fast-forward to last fall and I had my AMH tested again and now it is a 2.2???? My RE said this can happen after a pregnancy, but I still don't quite get it. Now all of a sudden I am in better shape with no DOR? I don't know. I'm thinking perhaps I have the start of PCOS or something. It's just weird!

But as we found and so many here have found, DOR is not the end of the world. Only takes one egg!!! :)

I was diagnosed with DOR after bloodwork showed my FSH at 20.4 (!!! 23 and up is considered premenopausal and I was 28 at the time!) and my AMH was .4 . I don't really know much more about DOR though, I never had any cysts or mentions of endo or anything else. I followed my REs rec of doing injections plus IUI (400iu Gonal F, I believe, plus trigger shot) and it worked on our first attempt- a little too well, I suppose, since I ended up with multiples!
It was wierd, I remember being fine when I first heard everything from the dr and it wasn't until about a week later when I realized how high my dosage of Gonal F was compared to other ladies going through a similar process that I started Googling and FREAKED OUT. I was so worries that the IUIs wouldn't work and that I wouldn't even be considered as an IVF candidate since the cut-off is typically a FSH of 15. Luckily, I didn't have to do IVF but the whole experience was very emotional for me.

@spaniellove:

I was diagnosed with borderline DOR by my current RE. My FSH has been tested twice, 8.58 and 5.6. I've heard that the highest number is always most accurate. My AMH is 1.34 and my two antral follicle counts have shown 8-9.

After my laparoscopy, my RE says my left ovary will be producing less follicles. I just finished an injectable cycle and have 4 maturing follicles. Only 2 total follicles on my left ovary and 5 on my right (with one or two tiny ones). IUI is tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!!

There was a little inkling a few years ago because of my low AMH, but they told me that it was still in the normal range.

After 3 completed and failed IUIs, I decided to see another clinic.

Just gave me my first diagnosis. PCOS and DOR.

@mrswin: 11 is a pretty good AFC for an FSH level of 9! I'm not familiar with the connection between endo and DOR (although my RE mentioned that he thought I had mild endo) but supposedly one of the causes of DOR is when the ovaries are attacked by the body, often because of autoimmune issues.

The health risks I've heard about are more in terms of the future, because DOR can lead to premature ovarian failure. In other words, early menopause. And having more years in menopause means more heart disease risk/bone issues.

Have you ever noticed cysts before in your monitoring? I think they can be common with DOR. We didn't realize they were screwing up my treatments until the end, and when I spoke up and did estrogen priming (kind of like the estrogen priming protocol) things finally worked out.

@spaniellove: Both of my RE's have noted that I have "mild" DOR. It was diagnosed through a combination of blood tests and ultrasound during my initial fertility work up at both places.

My AMH was 12.9 in Nov 2012 and was 11.0 in Jan 2013.
My last Antrfollicle count was 11 and my FSH hovers around 9 pretty consistently.
As a side note I did 4 IUI's with Femera and had 2-3 follicles during all but one of those cycles where I only had 1 follicle (may actually have been just a cyst).

We are planning to do IVF this summer so I would love it if you could share especially about other health risks as this has never been mentioned.

ETA: I had a lap in Jan 2013 and endo was found on my ovaries and I read somewhere that it could contribute in some way to the DOR but I'm not sure...

Last year when I found out I had DOR (diminished/low/poor ovarian reserve) and went through IVF, then IUI, then random treatments, I felt kind of lonely because there weren't many bees saying they had DOR. Now I think there are more. I was hoping we could all pool our collective knowledge and support since DOR is an especially tough thing to overcome and doctors have so little knowledge about it still.

So...what has your journey looked like? How were you diagnosed or what made you suspect you have it? Is your RE knowledgeable about it? Has your doctor talked to you about the other health risks associated with it? (This is important!) Did they ever find a cause? Is there something you're curious about?
