I had terrible hives after my c-section. They were all over my belly, abdomen, chest, and hips. Nothing on my face though. We never found the cause and it took weeks to finally go away (I had to go on a low dose if prednisone after multiple other failed treatments). My OB thinks it was a reaction from the cleansing agent and bandaging used on the incision

I had red bumpy spots all over, mainly on my arms & belly, it was horrible but no one could tell me what it was from. (I had a c-section) They kept telling me it was probably from the morphine but I still had it a week PP. I thought it might be the pain meds so I just stopped taking them...it eventually cleared up around 4-5 weeks PP. Hope they figure it out for you soon, I know how miserable that can be!

I was really itchy after my c section but declined Benadryl when they said it could dry up my milk. I was horribly itchy for days.

@autumnlove YES! I itched my FACE off after morphine. I remember the night after the baby was born (he was in the NICU for a little bit) and I wasn't distracted enough to stop itching. I itched my nose, my face, my neck, my arms and MY BELLY! I knew I was getting dangerously close to my incision, but couldn't stop! It was horrible and eventually died down a little. By the time I left the hospital it was all gone. I hope the Benadryl makes it better.

Morphine makes me itch for WEEKS! Seriously, I begged them not to give it to me when I had my thyroidectomy but sure enough they did & 5 days after discharge I was STILL itching!

Hope the Benadryl helps!

@autumnlove: aw boo :(

I had typical side effects from my first epidural experience-- itching all over and shivering when it was in. I had really bad numbness all up and down one leg for weeks but it eventually went away.

With my second epidural turned spinal catheter, I remember having a bit of an itchy rash on my neck but it cleared up really fast. I think it was gone by the time I left the hospital!

Hoping the same for you!!

I broke out last night with bright red patches on my face and arms. My dr thinks it was the morphine from my
Spinal block and he ordered Benadryl to help control the inflammation. It looks better today but I still look like a pepperoni face. :-)

Did you have any reactions to your spinal block or anesthesia?
