Just seasonal allergies and sulfa drugs, and mildly to cats & dogs (like, I sneeze more than normal, but don't get swollen eyes or anything). My husband doesn't have any allergies, not even seasonal ones. Lucky duck.

@.twist.: @.twist.: It's called Oral Allergy Syndrome! There's a great google article on it. For me, if the fruit/veggie has been heated up or cooked, I'm fine. Or if I take Zyrtec/Benadryl before eating it!

I have a mild allergy to raw bananas...my throat gets all itchy

I also have seasonal allergies

Late in life I have developed contact allergies to most lipsticks and mascara :( I get terrible skin irritations and eczema outbreaks. It's sometimes okay if I wear it once or twice but anymore than that and my skin starts to reject it and freak out

@.twist.: I read somewhere that if you have birch pollen allergy, it can be worse during the pollen season vs other times of the year.. So that you might be able to eat it just fine in the winter but have a horrible reaction in the spring.. Sounds like you have it year round, though, sorry!

@T-Mom: I have tried cutting it off and it still happened, I may try again. I did dip a peel-less apple in Carmel and it was fine. Maybe I can only eat apples with Carmel... I'm ok with that.

@.twist.: can you eat apples and pears without the skin on? My DD and DH don't do well with those fruits and its because they have birch pollen allergy.. But they can eat those fruits without peels.

@lovehoneybee: I have a similar reaction to butternut squash, and sometimes zucchini!

Aside from a penicillin allergy that's it for me..

@lovehoneybee: Oh, I've heard of people allergic to strawberries! So strange, and unfortunate. But they don't affect his throat? can he eat them?

I am allergic to penicillin and the icillin family drugs. Also, since pregnancy, I have been allergic to apples and pears. (contact!?). I can't eat them because they make my lips tingle and feel swelly and hurt. I've tried since being pregnant, and it still happens! boo!

I'm allergic to dairy products but, oddly enough, can have butter. I don't have seasonal allergies and I'm really thankful for that.

DS hasn't had any reactions to anything yet. I'm hoping that continues because allergies are such a pain to live with!

@knittylady: I don't know how common it actually is, but it's called irritant contact dermatitis. It's common enough that there were lots of google results for it, thought! I always mean to put on gloves before I handle it, or at least hold it with paper towels if I'm peeling, but almost always forget :(

I am allergic to cats, dust mites and most antibiotics (penicillin and all sulfa drugs). I also have bad seasonal allergies – I’m especially allergic to grass and maple trees. When I handle lobster, it makes my hands red and itchy (same reaction, but less severe with butternut squash), but I can eat both without any problems (thank goodness!).

So far we don’t think LO has any allergies. She had an allergic reaction after eating pears, but she’s had pears since and has been fine.

I have a bunch of food allergies (the worst being peanut) but do have one like what you described - not only am I allergic to melons but can't touch the outside of a cantaloupe. I held one at the farmers market and broke into hives up and down my arms. Since then we've had to put them into produce bags and I have to touch them with gloves when we come home.

My husband has bad seasonal allergies.

I suspect I have some mild seasonal allergies but it seems to vary year to year. I also am allergic to mango (blisters in my mouth and upset stomach). I think I'm also either allergic or just have an intolerance for nutrisweet (upset stomach and ridiculous diuretic effect moreso than anything I've ever had).

I'm allergic to cedar. Gives me hives. The pollen is horrible in the spring and I can't touch cedar wood. I once had a pet and bought cedar shavings for the bedding and I was sooo uncomfortable just being around it.

DS has seasonal allergies but nothing more than that. DH is allergic to something outside. When he pets our lab after he's been outside dh gets hives.

I'm allergic to tree nuts. I carry an epipen for it.

I am also mildly allergic to raw bananas... but I can still eat banana bread/muffins without any reaction.

I wouldn't really call it an allergy, but I do have sensitive skin that reacts poorly to creams/shampoos/whatever with scents and dyes in them so I avoid that as much as I can.

Also I have seasonal allergies. Some years are worse than others.

DH gets seasonal allergies but that's it!

Do you have any? What about your SO and/or LO(s)?

I have a weird one--a contact allergy to raw butternut squash flesh. My hands get really tight and look like...when you used to let Elmer's glue dry on your hands? It'll eventually wash off, but it takes lots and lots of soap.

I also have a contact allergy to pretty much all scented hand lotions. Bath and Body Works doesn't do much for me!

And regular seasonal allergies :)

So far E has mild contact allergies to strawberries and eggplant. Very small rashes, but don't bother his throat or anything. D is very very allergic to wool.
