I called her ped. this morning because she was pretty lathargic / acting off. They had her come in to assess for dehydration. She has a low-grade fever, and they suspect its all a mild reaction to the rotavirus vaccine that she got last week. Just having us a keep an eye on her temp. for now. Thanks everyone for all your help!

@Silva: I used to pump for 2-3 minutes before feeding to eliminate my fore-milk issue. He got an even amount of fore/hind milk that way, I believe, because he burping and gassiness decreased tremendouly (to almost nothing). He had already been on a dairy-free diet since 4 weeks old, so I knew it wasn't that.

@Silva: I reintroduced soy at like 7ish months and she was fine. We've kept her off dairy to this point (14 months) just because we're so used to it now and I'm not in a rush to give her any.

Right around that time my lo had green mucousy poops. I did the same googling you are doing freaked out that if have to give up dairy and a few days later she was back to yellow poops.
My ped says that unless she seems uncomfortable immediately after a feed that he doesn't recommend anything for green poop. Is give it a day or two.

@Silva: also I second everything @prettylizy: said. Eventually we did eliminate dairy and soy (at 3 months) because all of a sudden he was reacting. He got better really really fast. At about 4.5 mo I just started to reintroduce soy and he is tolerating fine !

@prettylizy: did you try to reintroduce either? Both would suck but I imagine soy would be harder because it is in everything!

@Silva: yes it does. When you block feed your body just learns to go longer between feeds to fill up and ensures your LO empties a side before switching!!! I have a major oversupply so I had lots of fore milk.

@Silva: Well, I never really felt empty, and even when she was finished I could still hand express if I tried. I would say block feeding could help with that.

As far as symptoms, yes, they got worse. She was so so so cranky and upsted all the time. And we got to the point where she would nurse for a second or two then pull off crying. She was also super congested. 3 days without dairy and soy and she was already MUCH better.

@coacheswife123: sorry, does milk imbalance=too much foremilk? I wonder if the drastic difference in production from my left/right boob could cause problems?

We dealt with a milk Imbalance and block feeding fixed it for us. I would try that first and then if she is having issues that persist maybe cut dairy and see if that helps.

@prettylizy: newbie question.. Can you tell when you are fully empty?
What other symptoms did your LO have? Did they continue to get wore?

@hilsy85: I've been trying to get her to eat longer on each side. My right boob produces so much more milk than the left though. She often falls asleep on the left, but if I switch sides she'll go for another 15 minutes. I worry she doesn't get enough from the left? Probably just being paranoid, I guess

This is exactly when my LO started showing signs of her dairy intolerance. I would try doing both the 'fully empty' and cutting dairy, then if you see an improvement, try re-adding dairy.

I would start by trying to get more hind milk into her since that's easier than eliminating dairy! Try to make sure se fully finishes one side before switching. You can also try great compressions while she nurses.

Since Tuesday (I think) my daughter 7.5 weeks, exclusively breastfed) has had bright green mucousy poops. I noticed some mucous in her poops last week but it wasn't happening all the time, and up until now they have been yellow/seedy.

Some of her poops have been so wet that it just looks like green tinted pee on the diaper.

She has always seemed to fart a lot, and lately I've noticed she is harder to burp. She has been a little fussier this week, often wakes up very fussy. But also has happy, calm moments. She has never been a great napper, but the past two days I've had to work really hard to get her to sleep at all. She has also had trouble falling asleep at night, which is new.

After researching it seems like this is either too much foremilk or an allergy/sensitivity to something I'm eating.

Did you experience anything like this?

Should I talk to her dr or start by eliminating dairy?
