We did both a scratch test and blood test for food and environmental allergens. In additional to food allergies, LO1 is also allergic to dust mites. :bummed:

We did scratch tests for about 15 different foods when she was 14 months. We suspected an egg allergy, daycare claimed kiwi allergy (I didn't believe it), and due to her MSPI and my elimination diet, we wanted to rule out true allergies to all the stuff that I had needed to eliminate. We were lucky and she was cleared of all allergies at that point.

@Bao: A blood draw sounds so much better than what I've had to do! Maybe I should inquire more.

My ped wants to test our 6 month old. I'm not sure if we should do a scratch test or the blood test

LO2 just had this done and it was a blood draw that checked for a whole long list of things. It was pretty simple and gave us answers.

Has anyone done any sort of allergy testing for your kids? What type of test did they do?

Our oldest has seasonal allergies that aren't so seasonal, they last all year. At his appt last week, his ped said we could maybe have him tested to find out what triggers him. He hope would be to avoid triggers so he doesn't have to live on allergy medication. DH isn't so interested, but I wouldn't mind doing it.
