I agree with the others about a very gradual transition from breastmilk to formula, and to make sure the bottle is very warm.

Yes, I should just add less at first. I do warm it, that has always been the only way she'll drink out of a bottle. I just wasn't sure what kind of time frame to expect her to be able to drink a full bottle of formula. Because that's my ultimate goal, is to have her drink one bottle of formula a day. Is that even wise though? Or should I continue to give her formula mixed with breastmilk?

Could you try a bottle that is more breastmilk than formula? Our pediatrician is instructing us to start exchanging 1 ounce of formula for 1 ounce of cow's milk starting at 11 months so LO is fully transitioned to milk at 1 year.

I literally had to do 1 oz formula, 6 oz breastmilk... then the next bottle, 1.5 oz formula... a very very very gradual transition... I also had to feed it to him warm. I tried to give him cold formula and he hated it... so I did the gradual transition, always warm, and he did ok. Once he was on formula, it was another gradual transition to cold formula.

I was told by our pediatrician to begin supplementing with formula. She's been exclusively breastfed (and solids/people food) until this point. I was sad to have to supplement, I'd envisioned only nursing or at least pumping until she was one and could begin cow's milk. But she's on the lower percentile for her weight so I decided to try it. I started by making a bottle equal parts breastmilk and formula. LO will not drink it. She just won't. She spits it out.

Is there a right way to transition?
