@newlypregnantlady: I just bought two similar baskets from a local gal. They’re so cute and my girls can use them for whatever later!

@newlypregnantlady:
It’s probably too late for this year, but for the future I’d love a bigger version of those. We are Montessori fans, and could always find uses for functional baskets like that.

I ended up buying deep felt baskets at target for this year’s egg hunt. The kiddos can play with them til they fall apart.

Target has kid themed reusable shopping bags in the dollar zone. That could be cute then you could use them for groceries or for carrying kid stuff around after (I put snow stuff for school in one). Or a little toy purse or tote bag- my girls love those kinds of things.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: yes I love them! Once my girls are older I want to get a few larger ones to hold handwork projects. Right now I can’t keep knitting needles and yarn laying around because they just become weapons!

I'd use a tote bag for a hunt if I didn't have any handled baskets, which I actually don't!

https://www.bellalunatoys.com/collections/meal-time/products/small-bolga-basket

My daughter has several of these. We use them to hold toys and go to the farmer’s market. They’re probably 10” diameter? So fairly small. I was just going to stuff a canvas grocery bag inside for stuffing (instead of that fake grass stuff) and then do small bags of expensive fruits I’m too cheap to buy regularly, lol! So grapes and berries. My father is going to bring a bunch of junk for her I’m sure, so I’m keeping our stuff 100% edible.

Then we’ll do a short egg hunt and decorate a carrot cake with some fruit cut into flowers and strawberries dipped in orange-colored white chocolate (to look like carrots).

Plus we’re making this retro ambrosia jello “salad” that I think she’ll have a blast making. It’s a family recipe from DH’s childhood and it’s pastel green and so weird! But my toddler will love it, I’m sure.

I usually hate these type of holidays but I’m so excited for spring this year I’m planning all kinds of confections and activities. Plus we’re not Christians so it’s easy for me to keep things simple and casual.

My Easter baskets are leftover from flower arrangements. ;)

I love the upside-down umbrella idea, Target had some in the dollar aisle.
Maybe the foldable storage bins? Then re-use for toy storage...or at least they store easy for next year.

Let me see - I've seen rain boots, an opened umbrella upside-down, flower pot, a lunchbox/book bag, upside down straw hats, and Easter tote bags. (I may have gone on a Pinterest spree a few weeks ago looking for alternatives to Easter candy to put in baskets, but I got alternatives to Easter baskets in general too, haha.)

I generally dislike owning and storing things that are single-purpose and rarely used. Easter baskets are an example of this. It feels wasteful of space to me. I prefer to use something that can be repurposed all year long.

Last year, my daughter used a big tin pail at the Easter Egg Hunt. This year I have two little ones and am wondering if anyone else has any clever ideas for multi-purpose Easter baskets.
