I used Clomid 50mg 3 times, 2 with IUI, and Femara once with IUI which worked. But I also ovulate on my own so I don't know if that makes a difference?

@Worrywart: I've been doing it since November and it is so relaxing! It can get pricy, but I'm using my HSA to fund it, so I don't feel the hit. My progesterone levels really shot up after I started doing it. I'll continue for awhile since I'm meeting with an RE end of April.

@NorthStar: No I have not tried acupuncture, but I have heard great things as well. Maybe I'll give it a shot if nothing works in the next few months.

I used femara for 4 cycles and although, I didn't get pregnant, it was nice not having any side effects and it only cost me $5/cycle. I was on the lowest dose, though, with my OB, so I might have had a different outcome had I been with an RE who did monitoring.

Have you considered acupuncture? I've heard so many success stories of women doing that to bring on ovulation and many times, it works! just a thought..

My RE used Femera. I tried Clomid once and I didn't like the side effects.

I got pregnant on tamoxifen, as clommid didn't work. Tamoxifen is a cancer drug so it was covered by my insurance also.

@Shutterbug: Thanks! I'm going to suggest Femara with my OB. Clomid just doesn't seem to be agreeing with my body this time around.

Femara (Letrozole) is very similar to Clomid, without some of the risks (hyperovulation, uterine lining thinning) and it has the benefit of being a cancer drug (IF is the off-label use) so most insurance carriers cover it even without fertility coverage. My insurance covered both, but Clomid was $5 and Femara was free.

@ShootingStar: Yes I did monitored cycles with my RE. My follicles grew nicely on Clomid but then needed Ovidrel trigger in order to ovulate. Fertility is financially just not in the cards for us to continue on right now, so I'm trying to see if there are any alternatives that I could do with my OB.

Did you do monitored cycles with your RE? I found that I was resistant to Clomid and if someone had just given me an rx and sent me on my merry way I never would've gotten pregnant. Ultimately what worked for me was Femara (oral med, highest dose possible) + Gonal-F (injectable) + trigger + TI.

Was curious if anyone has taken anything with their OB to help ovulate other than clomid? Back story: I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter who I conceived easily on 100 mg of clomid. We have been TTC #2 for over a year now. I first went back to my OB who gave me clomid again. Tried two months, nothing. Finally went to an RE, did two rounds of IUI with clomid, nothing. I am now taking a break from fertility and have my annual pap with my OB tomorrow. I wanted to talk to her about taking something other than clomid, since my problem is that I don't ovulate strong enough on my own. Has anyone tried anything else and had success?
