I thought the same thing when I bought the pattern. I did it in this tan color as I wanted to see the form and stitches abd believe it or not black yarn makes it hard sometimes to see what you are doing and since I never made this pattern or any shape like those wings I wanted an easier visual color. I am a little worried too that black yarn and black eyes might be hard to distinguish the eyes as well.
