I just feed my baby when she's hungry. She's only 14lbs at 4 months, so she knows when to stop.LOL

Some babies are hungrier than others. My cousin used to go through 2 bottles at each feeding. He even had to have a special formula made for hungrier babies. I think as long as the doctor is happy with the baby's weight everything should be ok.

I've been told not more than one liter of formula in a 24 hour period.

My LO used to eat a ton! He went through a few months where he ate more than 30 ounces. He was a little older, 6-8months, when we started him on formula and he was eating that much, but he's always eaten a lot, even when he was eating breastmilk.
I would watch the cues. You can also try to gradually stretch out her feedings. Try going 2 hours and15 minutes for a couple days, then 2 and a half hours, etc...
Ultimately if your pediatrician doesn't have an issue and your baby is hungry, feed her.

that does sound like a lot since formula takes longer to digest than breastmilk, and most breastfed babies do fine a 3 hour schedule. olive is on a 3 hour schedule. i could never get charlie on a 4 hour schedule, so i would aim for 3 hours between feedings.

@StbHisMrs: Start with aiming for 3 hours. I was never able to spread him out to 4 hours consistently...although if we're out and about and he's in his stroller or Ergo and content then I can get him to go longer. If you're able to get to 4 hours that's awesome though!!!

With 3 hours you'll at least be able to see if she's feeding because she's hungry or feeding because that's what she thinks she should be doing. I've began to notice his hunger cues are a lot different than his "I'm bored...might as well eat" cues.

@venice4504: Thank you :) I printed that out.
I'm using an app called Baby Connect to keep track and it's counting a feeding from last night at 11:45 and 3:45am. She's eating every 2 hours it appears and averages almost 4oz at a time. I usually make her 5oz. Maybe I should think about putting her on a 3-4 hour schedule vs every 2 hours.

My LO also eats a lot. When she's hungry, I'm going to feed her. We've tried spreading it out and having her wait longer to eat, but she starts fussing because she's hungry. As long as the doctor doesn't complain about her weight, neither will I.

i would also suggest spreading out her feedings to every 3 hours. i never gave my LO more than 30 oz of milk total in a day. we started solids at 5.5 months and she was drinking 30 oz per day by that time and i gradually increased the food but not the milk.

We pretty much followed this chart:
http://www.earthsbest.com/resources/guides-tools/infant-feeding-schedule

We were doing about 24-26 oz at 3 months and have barely gotten up to 30oz now at 4.5 months (we've also introduced solids though). I've never heard of a little one being able to chug almost 40oz. You may want to try to start spreading out her feedings, targeting for one every 3 hours and try to do 5oz at each feeding (more if it's not enough obv.).

Madalein is 3 months old, I'm not sure of her exact weight but it's between 13 and 15lbs (12.5 at her 2 month appt.). She isn't a chunky baby, but she isn't skinny either. We're feeding on demand about every 2 hours and she'll take anywhere from 3-5oz at a time. I read that it should be 2.5 for every pound, well she's already at 30oz today and it's only 4pm. She's going to drink atleast 9 more ounces before midnight.
