@mrs. wagon: The only reason I haven’t called my OB office back and tried to get another appt to make sure is because the only doctor in town is that one that I saw yesterday and don’t like. If my actual OB was here I’d be calling them back in a SECOND. :(

@Running Elley: glad you're feeling better!! btw, every single time I went in for pain, they sent me for an ultrasound... so if you want ot make sure everything is fine, go in and tell them about the pain you had, and your concerns about preterm labor.

@MamaMoose: I really appreciate it, not weird at all!!!!
@artbee: Thanks, me too!!

I’m still totally considering booking a private US just to make double sure that everything’s okay so that I don’t live holding my breath for the next 2 weeks. I’m pretty sure that totally does make me paranoid and crazy! We’ll see if I follow through with it!

Thank you everyone for the advice/reassurance/support! I called the on call OB and she said the same thing that a lot of you did…to lie on my left side, drink a bunch of water and see how I feel after that. She said that if it gets better/goes away and I haven’t had any vaginal discharge changes (I haven’t) that those are good signs. It all went away and I feel a lot better this morning!! No back pain, no cramps, just RLP.

Everything is probably totally fine, but you should call your doc back and ask for a natural stress test or go to the ER if you are really worried. Agree with the other ladies about drinking LOADS of water and laying down for a while and seeing how you feel. My preterm labor (at 30 weeks) was Braxton Hicks contractions that were happening frequently and developed into real contractions - I dismissed the BH contractions for a few weeks and my OB also sort of did. But, I knew something was up and I am so thankful that I made noise about the issues that I was having. Listen to your body and there is no reason to worry about being *that* woman.

i'm not having what your describing but today at my OB's office when she saw how dark my urine was (sorry TMI) she told me this:
if you're not hydrated enough you will start contracting!!! Its not enough to be early labor but it is enough to cause lots of pain. So, she told me to drink insane amounts of water and said no amount of water is too much during pregnancy. So maybe try that?

Other than that:
I'd call my OB's office and say: "I felt VERY rushed yesterday because of Dr. "x"'s emergency situation, so i'd like to reschedule my 22w appointment because I still have some unresolved concerns..."
SERIOUSLY---You deserve for your appointment to be helpful! Not rushed.

I would absolutely call your OB's office and try to speak to someone on call-- an OB, a nurse, etc. If you can't get anyone on the phone, definitely go in and be seen. Better safe than sorry... and you are NOT being overly paranoid. This is my second pregnancy and I've been seen on a same-day appointment both in the OB's office and at the hospital at least five times! Pain is pain and if you're worried, it's worth the time and effort to be seen just to get the peace of mind that it's just braxton hicks, or it's just round ligament pain. I went in for what ended up being ligament pain but they tested me for preterm labor, kidney stones, and a bladder infection (all negative) and I don't regret it one bit.

In the meantime try to relax, hydrate, eat, and lay down. Your anxiety may be making it worse. One time when I was waiting to be seen, just sitting in the waiting room I had such severe braxton hicks that the receptionist asked if I was in labor. It lasted for a good half hour. As soon as I was able to lie down in the triage room and relax, and I heard my baby's heartbeat, the contractions slowed and stopped.

If nothing helps the pain I would definitely try to be seen. Wear a pad or pantiliner and keep an eye on what, if anything, is coming out.

Good luck!!!!

@RunningElley: The contractions felt like really uncomfortable menstrual cramps - that's the best way I can think of to describe it. They felt different from BH contractions, which feel tight and uncomfortable, but not like menstrual crampy, if that makes sense.

The thing they always seemed to tell me was to drink a bunch of water and then see how I felt. Don't know if that might be helpful to you too... but of course if you are concerned you can always call the answering service and talk to the on-call doc. I did that once or twice and it was always really helpful!

I feel like it's normal pregnancy stuff, but if you're anything like me you'll spend all night worrying and not get any sleep. In that case I would call the on call ob to see what they recommended.

It is better to be safe than sorry! First and most importantly, call your OB's office and let them know what you're experiencing. When in doubt, call! I know you don't want to be *one of those* women, BUT you should always be your own best advocate! I have read tons of posts from nurses and other healthcare professionals (on various sites) that emphasize that they want you to call so that you can receive the information--and care-- you and your lo need. The sooner the better ! :)

When I had pre-term labor (at 22 weeks), I had series of period like cramps, approx. 20-30 minutes apart, that lasted for a few hours (I had 4-6 contractions in one hour), bright red spotting, and low back pain. I felt silly for calling, and totally thought I was overreacting, but that all stopped once I spoke with the nurse (and later with the OB in L&D).

@MamaMoose: Thats what I'm leaning towards for the same reason. Plus, I would think that I wouldn't just feel crappy for days and it be pre labor, I'd assume that it'd have progressed more? Thanks for the input :)

I'm behind you so I can't say what's normal. But I would say if laying down always makes you feel better then I would just rest tonight and try not to stress. And see how you feel in the morning. If you were really in premature labor I don't think laying down would help you to feel better.

Sooooo as I said in my last post, I've noticed some changes in the past week-ish. I'm feeling our little guy moving a lot more which is awesome but in addition to that starting last Wednesday I feel kind of crampy? But I'm not sure that's the best way to describe it. I've been assuming it's round ligament pain but it's just a general soreness in my lower abdomen (not up near my uterus/belly button). It's not necessarily pressure but it kind of feels like that.

Starting last Friday my back has been hurting a lot. High, low, in the middle, wherever. It's off an on but more on unless I'm laying down and sometimes even then. Today I had a few tightening cramps in my stomach that stopped when I laid down on my left side. I've been feeling waves of nausea for the first time since the beginning of the second tri.

I had an OB appt this morning but my normal doctor was out of the country on vacation and I met with another OB who was in a mega rush because apparently he had an emergency at the hospital. He said not to worry unless I was bleeding and basically wrote my complaints off. He spent less than 3 minutes in the room with me.

I don't know if I'm freaking out thinking I could be starting premature labor because I'm just a paranoid pregnant lady in general or if there's really something to worry about. Would any of you go to urgent care/ER or would you just rest and chalk it up to normal pregnancy stuff? I feel absolutely crazy but is it better to be safe than sorry? If any of you have been in premature labor before, does any of this sound familiar? (I'm 22 weeks)
