I would say go for it except that I think you should consider giving your body time to replenish itself of all the things that are at a low level following pregnancy and breast feeding. There's a reason docs say to wait 18-24 months. Doubt you will be able to hold out that long but maybe just a tad longer than 6 months?

@sarac: I agree with this! Though my LO is only 6.5 months, I think of this all the time.
And anytime We are having a rough time (usually with sleep & often) it actually makes me want to have them back to back & get it over with! I say let fate decide!

I wish I'd managed it before my baby became a toddler. Now I'm way skinnier and fitter and that's hard to want to give up. If have rather just had my babies and then done the self improvement.

@googly-eyes: We're not stopping to TTC. We're stopping because this Mumma doesn't want to be a chew toy! Plus I feel my supply is starting to dwindle a little.

@Weagle: I'm sort of hoping that's the case with us. We'll hit 6 months and decide we can wait a bit longer. That's another reason I'm glad AF hasn't returned thanks to my little booby monster - trying now would pretty much be a lost cause.

You could always just NTNP and see what happens! :) DH and I sorta did this (we were careless about birth control after having DS) and we ended up getting a BFP at 4 months postpartum. I never would have thought it would happen that soon, but it did, and we're really excited to have two LO's so close in age.

If you feel ready, then why not? From 0-6 months I was super ready for #2. At 6 months I decided I was crazy and wanted to wait a bit longer.

Six months was earlier than I could ever see myself going for it again but should be manageable. I think you'll get some votes not to do it because it sort of reads like you're going to stop bf for that purpose, although it also sounds like you're going to stop just around six months anyway(?) ...either of which is fine by me but you may want to clarify...

I voted go for it. If you still feel up to it by then then you probably won't change your mind. But things may get more normal then and you might end up wanting to enjoy that too. Either way it's not like you're going to start right now.

Hahaha good for you for feeling this way so soon. My LO is turning two and I am still hesitant about the right timing for baby number two!

A bit of background to start: I have a son named Hunter who will be 4 months old on the 9th. He is currently teething, going through a growth spurt, and going through the 4 month sleep regression all at once. I had a rough pregnancy because he was putting so much pressure on my spine the whole time and then I had a back labour to top it off (but I actually enjoyed my birthing experience). I married Hunter's Daddy last week after a 3 year engagement and we've just bought our first house - 3 bedrooms, solar power, and a big yard! The payments are easily managable on a single wage.

So I'm getting clucky again already. With Hunter teething we plan to have him off the boob just before 6 months after which we'll be going on our honeymoon. DH is open to whatever I want. He loves Hunter and would love another. So am I nuts for wanting to start TTC #2 as soon as I start ovulating again?
