I've had to work on Christmas, even if it is a religious holiday to me, and I requested it off!! It happened, but not every year. I know that many retailers may be open later on Christmas day (craziness!) and I know that Jewish and Muslim organizations may be open.</p> <p>But. But. But. Why isn't Christmas one of our holidays? Technically I can take the day off as one of my three floating holidays to use. But we don't have the day off as one of our official holidays because we don't observe "religious or oppressive holidays." I get that Christmas is religious but our office is small (only 5 full-time people) and all of us are non-religious and celebrate Christmas secularly. We get off for Thanksgiving, how does that not fall under an oppressive holiday?!?! (I'm not complaining about having that off!) </p> <p>No comprende. I've already asked my co-workers if they'd support me in a petition to have Christmas be considered a holiday we get to take off. I'm the newest and I'm already organizing! </p>
