We also had a strange office where I sat in the front (we didn't have/need redeptionists). So, they would come VERY early, and then I would keep working in front of them...so awkward. One woman (a knitter) had on an outfit that looked like she knit it herself! HUGE red flag! Interviewing was quite enjoyable, and we had a lot of fun reading applications and resumes. I asked if they were being helped and they said yes. I went to the bathroom and went out and smoked and came back and she was still there. That was at 2pm that she was sitting out there and apparently had been for a while.
