I was considered AMA for my 3rd. Starting at about 32 weeks I had weekly ultrasounds to check fluid levels, practice breathing and movements. Every other week they checked her weight.

I was due two weeks before my 35th birthday.... so I technically wasn't considered AMA or a high risk pregnancy.

As far as I know I didn't have any different appointments or extra ones due to my age but my pregnancy was thankfully uneventful.

I was considered AMA technically with my first when I was 34 and turned 35 before delivery. But they did nothing different. My insurance covered the nuchal translucency test though which at the time they weren't covering unless you were AMA. My second pregnancy I was 37 turning 38, and obviously I was considered AMA but again they didn't really do anything differently except cover the genetic testing. Also she wouldn't let me go past my due date by very much due to my age.

Mine considered me AMA if you deliver when you are 35 (even if you were 34 for any time during the pregnancy). I was offered the blood test screening and, my doctors office did increase monitoring (partly because of an issue at my 20 week appt, but they "overreacted" because I was AMA).

ETA- my sister was 37 when she had her third and they did nothing different. Honestly if I were to get pregnant again, I would want to go to a more laid back clinic like hers.

I turned 35 when I had my second. I was considered AMA for that one. My practice required the Materni21, but my insurance didn't cover it. I had a bit of extra monitoring but that's because blood pressure was rising near the end of pregnancy.

Like others said genetic testing like Materni21 is covered by insurance once you are AMA. I was 35 when I conceived DS2 and 36 when I delivered. I ended up being high risk though due to having a placenta previa.

I'm 30 weeks and had turned 35 during this pregnancy. The only difference for me was I was told my genetic screening (if we choose to do it) would be covered by insurance because I'd be 35 when I delivered. I haven't experienced any other difference.

I was in this situation (34 while pregnant, 35 at delivery) and was considered AMA at the obgyn practice I was at - I was recommended additional genetic screening and ultrasounds. I don't feel the extra testing was really necessary in my situation, given that early tests showed no cause for concern about chromosomal or genetic abnormalities and I was fairly (I thought!) young.

For me, only difference was that nipt was covered, and my every week appointments started at 34 weeks, not 36 weeks (so, only added in the 35 week appointment). I turned 35 this month, baby #2 is due next month.

My insurance considers you AMA if you deliver on or after your 35th birthday. The only difference for me so far is that they offered and covered the cell free fetal DNA test, and I'll need to go in for weekly non-stress tests starting at 36 weeks (insurance requirement due to age). Also, my paperwork says "elderly" on it, which is always good for an eye roll and a laugh with the midwives. ;)

My practice considers you AMA if you're 35+ when you deliver, which I was for both of my pregnancies. I don't think that by itself had any affect on my care.

It is different doctor to doctor/practice to practice and maybe even insurance to insurance. My OB practice considers it AMA if your EDD is when you are 35, but I know of others that only consider it AMA if you are 35 when you conceive.

My doctor told me he bases AMA on previous history and usually closer to age 40+ as well. Funny how times have changed!

Just found out I'm pregnant with my 3rd
I'm 34 but turning 35 in three months. Will I be considered advanced maternal age? Is there a difference from a regular pregnancy visits?
