@Jackiedavis87: There should be a little download button somewhere near the "play" button. Either saying "download" or with the little down arrow symbol.

I've had luck with contacting Amazon in the past for setup. We have one with a bunch of free kids games I found. We also connect to our Disney movies account, so can download and watch those on flights and such.

@Adira: I have a question, how do you download the shows? All I get it to do is play. Thanks!

@matador84: I'm not sure how old your LOs are but our LO loved a lot of the shape and alphabet games they have on there. I liked having the option to try out a bunch of stuff with that free trial. He also loved a book about trucks and there's an option to read it yourself or have it read to you.

We got LO one last Christmas and it came with a year of amazon free time for free. Not sure if they still do. We downloaded shapes and alphabet games using wifi and they didn't need wifi anymore once they were downloaded. We use it for doctors appointments, road trips, etc Now that the free trial has ended we will likely just buy a few games for him.

@Adira: I am using the free wifi at the hospital and managed to get them set up and working! So I guess they just won't work at our house...which I'm mostly fine with, ha!

@Adira: all it's saying is unable to connect to wi-fi network...connecting to the network is taking too long. This could be due to an incorrect password or a slow network. please try again.

so annoyed! gr.

@matador84: Hmm... I wouldn't think that would be too many devices. I guess you could try disabling the wi-fi on your phone and then restarting the router while your phone's wi-fi is disabled, but I wouldn't really think that's the issue.

What's the error you're getting? Can you at least detect your house's wi-fi with the tablets?

@Adira: I kind of wondered if that's what the problem is, but I don't know how to fix it! I turned the wi-fi off on my phone, the only other thing that should be wi-fi'ing is my laptop and our apple TV + the two tablets attempting to connect.

My plan is to really only allow the kids to use them on road trips and things where I need them to be occupied. I took them to the dentist with me yesterday, and they were super for the the first 45 minutes, but after that  .

@matador84: Can your router only handle a set number of devices connected to it? It's possible you're already using all its access points if you have multiple other phones/tablets/computers connected.

We have them, though they aren't technically the kids. We've used them for traveling and doctor's appointments. And ESPECIALLY ER trips, which I've had to do way too many times. Being able to download some Amazon Prime videos for my kids to watch have been huge life savers for us!

Someone gifted my kids an amazon fire tablet, the kids edition for Christmas. I can't get either one to connect to our home wi-fi to even set it up--after multiple router resets. It's so frustrating! I wasn't going to use them anytime soon, but we have several doctor's appointments this week and thought it would be good to try them out.

If your kids have them, what do they use them for/do on them?
