I had it shown but it was for vitamins so I figure it's more of a liability for people to return it.

I love when that happens! It's happened to me once or twice and they said with a lower priced item it wound actually cost them more to pay for return shipping and restocking fees.

I had that happen once, when I ordered some pajama bottoms for DH and when they came they were thin and translucent. So now he has normal ones AND translucent ones. Yay?

I've had this happen once before. I was under the impression it was because them paying to ship it back to themselves wouldn't have been worth it money wise.

Interesting...I just went to process a return from a while back and got the same message! Maybe it's for items under a certain price threshold? I'd actually be happy to return it because it's an extension for a gate that I've returned and totally don't need it.

@sunny: that happened with a piece of furniture that I received from Joss and Main! I ordered a buffet style table for my LR and one of the bottom panels was splintered when it was delivered, so they sent me a new one, but since it was a huge piece of furniture, they didn't require that I return it. So I ended up fixing the panel myself, and gifting the table to my mom!

Oh awesome! I once had an item that didn't get delivered to me so I called and they sent a replacement right away. The original order arrived a few days later (not sure why it had been marked delivered) and Amazon didn't have me send the duplicate back.. Not quite as good as getting something for free but it was cool that they let me keep it.

I've never had it happen online before, but recently I did get a free pair of jeans by calling :) They sent me the wrong style, and I called them to ask for a refund for the difference in price since I wanted to keep them anyway. They refunded the whole thing instead, and let me keep them!

Yes, for sunscreen! I assumed they did not want it back since it was a skin care product, but maybe there is another reason. Not sure.

@debbiei8: maybe 1-2 things in the past year? We actually filed two separate complaints in the last couple months due to shipping issues (paid for two day and it took 5+ days).

I've never returned anything to Amazon before, but that's pretty awesome!

Have you returned a lot of things to Amazon? I'm wondering if they offer it to people that don't return things often.

@MrsH: I guess?? I don't *think* I use it as much as most people - I don't use subscribe and save or buy prime... but in the last few months I placed a couple large orders - like in December we had a $100+ order for Christmas gifts, and then another that was just under $100 for J's birthday. Maybe it's a monetary amount you spend in x amount of months? idk... but I think it's pretty sweet! And I'll just save the puzzle for when he's a little older :)

@Mae: Some items it's probably cheaper for them to let you keep it than pay cost of shipping. But this puzzle was $15, so I don't think that's the case here.

I bought this puzzle set for J, but didn't realize until it arrived that it didn't have grooves to fit the pieces in, so I know he'd get really frustrated with it. I was planning to return it and get a different one. Well, when I was in the process of doing the return online - I got this message.

Has anyone had this happen to them before? I think it's awesome, but definitely a little odd!
