@hellobear: That is awesome and great to know! We use rechargeables a lot around the house but I never thought to use it with the pump. Good for work trips and jury duty (had that yesterday but luckily they gave me a cleanish room with outlet). I will try it out with my rechargeables and let you know how that goes.

just want to report back that i decided to try using rechargeable batteries this week and i've pumped the last 3 days at work using batteries only! i've pumped 3 times for 10 minutes each time with the same output i was getting plugged in.. and am going to try going 2 days before recharging my batteries tmw to see how long i can go on 1 charge.. even if i have to recharge the batteries every night, i'm loving the ability to just use my batteries in the pump when i'm out. takes so much stress out of trying to find a clean spot next to an outlet to pump!

just in case anyone else is interested this is what i ended up purchasing to use..

@LITTLEVEESMOMMY: @DANDA: @CHEERT16: @AVIVOCA: @MAMAOF2: thanks ladies! sad to hear the suction is not that great... i have pumped in the car before infrequently and that's worked but i'm actually away from my car during the day so was hoping i could just pop into room/private space and pump.. i never know how long i have so i always need to be ready to pack it up and run back to work incase an urgent case comes up so the extra time it takes to find a spot with an outlet is sometimes stressful! :) maybe i'll do batteries but keep the cord on hand anyways just incase the batteries run out? just wish those batteries were a little cheaper! =P

With the car charger accessory, make sure your car outlet works. I bought one for a trip I went on but my car was missing that fuse! It was a rental in it's previous life and I think they remove the fuses so you can't use the cigarette lighter. I was about to burst trying to find batteries so I could pump.

Just wanted to add to @cheert16 and @danda suggestions on the car charger accessory. I suggest getting a power inverter so that the accessory can be used with other devices you might need to power in the car. I have something like this in the car for pumping that I also use for charging my phone or laptop on road trips.

I haven't used rechargeable batteries but wanted to recommend the car charger accessory if pumping in the car happens to be an option.

I agree the suction wasn't all that great but in a pinch (like when I had to pump in the car) it worked!

I used batteries when I went on a business trip awhile back- the suction wasn't great though. I would suggest getting a car charger plug if that is available for your pump- I like that much better than the batteries and it gives me the freedom to pump on the run!

I plan to do this since I will have to pump in the car while on site visits twice a week. Hope it works out!

The suction isn't great with the batteries, but it's doable. I had to turn it all the way up and pump longer than usual. As far as brand, I always like Energizer.

Hello moms :)

Anyone use rechargeable batteries with their pump while out of the house? I am "on the go" quite often when I am working and so far have had access to a outlet.. but it would be so much easier if I could just use batteries in my pump instead.. but am hesitant to make the plunge to buy the batteries b/c they are not cheap and i'm not sure how long a charge would last me? I try to pump 3 times during the 10-11 hours i am out of the house.. and usually pump for about 10 minutes each time..

for those of you who have used the ameda pump with this kind of set up what kind of batteries did you use, how long did the batteries last, and what was your overall set up? links to actual products would be greatly appreciated!!

also if anyone used rechargeable batteries with a non-ameda pump, pls feel free to share as I think it would be a similar experience..

p.s. i am pretty much set/stuck with my ameda and very happy with it otherwise so i'm not looking to purchase any new pumps. :)

TIA!
