@looch: The Atlas and Nautilus are pretty similar I believe. The harness height on the atlas is a little bit taller, but the belt guide for the booster is higher on the Nautilus. Oh and the Atlas does not become a backless booster.

Anyone familiar with the Graco Atlas 65?

I need 2 seats, one for my dad's mini van that my son has to be able to get in an out of himself for the school drop off lane. I already have one of each of the Britax Frontier and the Graco Nautilus and I like the Britax Frontier because of the click tight belt install, but I am thinking I would rather do something a little less expensive? I don't know, gah.

Basically, 4 cars, 4 seats. Need to buy two. At anypoint, anyone could be picking up or dropping off.

@catgirl: Thanks, that's really good to know. My son is huge, so he'd outgrow very quickly.

I would definitely skip the Cosco Combination seat. It is outgrown very early as a harnessed seat compared to other combination seats and does not have a good booster fit. The suggestions for a Harmony Defender or an Evenflo Maestro are great. You could also consider the Graco Tranzitions.

@SeptMomma12: We got this $30 highback from Amazon awhile back. http://www.walmart.com/ip/19414731?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227014596750&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=40331487152&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=64556392644&veh=sem

Cosco (maker of the popular grandma's house convertible car seat the Scenera) makes both a harnessed high backed booster and a non harnessed version for about $40 and $20, respectively. We have the version with the five point harness for specifically the situation, and so far it has worked well. DD is almost 4 and we bought it for her about six months ago. I think she'll be in it for a long time

We have the Evenflo Maestro as backup carseats for my husband's car, and are very happy with them - http://csftl.org/evenflo-maestro-review/ - they were around $75.

Look for the Harmony Defender. It's usually right around $100 and can be a harnessed seat, a high back booster, and I believe it can also be a backless booster, but I'm not sure on the last part.

We just got two Britax Frontiers for our cars for DS (3.5) and need to get something for grandma's car, but would prefer not to spend that much on a seat that will get used only a few times a year. Any recommendations?
