My LO's heart rate dropped when I'd have a contraction because after my water broke his cord must have been getting leaned on somehow. They changed my position and that helped a bit. They stopped the very little amount of pitocin that they'd started and that helped. The nurse said they don't worry too much when the heart rate goes back up to baseline when you aren't contracting. Which his was- so that is why they didn't rush me off to the OR. I hope I am remembering that correctly...</p> <p>ETA, Now I think I am remembering that wrong actually. I think it is normal for it to drop during a contraction but it is supposed to go back up in between and LO's wasn't going all the way back up...? She did wiggle around a bunch more than normal for being in labor so they were constantly having to re-adjust the monitor (I was forced to be on because of the induction... Ugh) So, if it happened, I have no idea. It happened right after I got an epidural so I think maybe my body relaxed more and baby decided to take a nap or something bc she'd been doing fine before. Or unless you had a c-section prone doctor I guess, but that's very much not the case in my area/hospital!</p> <p>But yep I heard this...and ugh, it was such a roller coaster from there. They started with position changed, then added oxygen. It wasn't helping, so they took me to the OR to monitor me and prepped me for a C-section just in case so that everything wouldn't be as frantic if it did become necessary - they would've gone ahead and done it if I'd wanted them to, but I did not. After awhile they decided that baby seemed to be doing well enough to send me back to my room, and to rest until I was ready to push since I was getting close at 7cm dilated. When I stood up to go to te bathroom his hr dropped. The first two times it happened(both when I stood up), it went back up when I went and laid on my side. The third time, they tried multiple positions and nothing helped, it wouldn't rebound. I was induced and at the start of pitocin, we started having heart decels immediately and had to turn the pitocin off with the threat of a c-section. eventually, they found out if i lied in a certain position, it was better. </p>
